Since I for the most part exclusively listen to classical music and am in the market for a sub replacement, I have as of yet been unable to determine if the EP 350 will work as well as the 500. Occasionally my listening accesses the lower register of an organ, but not often. My most immediate question needs answering before I go ahead and make a purchase.

Do you think the DSP chip in the 500 series will be make a significant difference in terms of bass response with my particular kind of listening vis-a-vis the 350? Will I be able to enjoy clean and undistorted bass within the orchestra recording with the 350? (I am aware that this is dependent on the source a well). If not in what way does the 500 operate in a superior manner to that of the 350, and to your mind is the cost differential with the higher investment worth while?

Lee, although I use the EP500, for general orchestral music the EP350 should be entirely satisfactory. The DSP processing in the EP500 prevents over driving the sub at extremely high listening levels but doesn't in itself extend the bass response. The pipe organ material you mention is something I also listen to and is the area(down to, say, 16Hz)where the EP500 has an advantage.
