I watched 2012 movie last night after recalibrating the Pioneer sc-67, and all I can say is the sound was awesome. One thing I did different was raise the mike up a foot higher that I had it, which places it about 14 inches above the backs of the couch. Even with almost none of the tweeters pointed at my ears, there was still plenty of the highs and it sounded more natural than I've heard it in a while.

There was plenty of bass, more than I've heard from the Denon. I understand now that this is basically uncontrolled bass from the Pioneer, but it us what I've grown accustomed to with my other Pioneer amp.

It's too bad Pioneer doesn't make a high end Processor.. like the Integra DHC80.3

We watched '2012' as well last night on my newly re-calibrated Audyssey system on my Denon. At -10 Db, the sound track was very good & mercifully not overdone in the LFE department that was most welcome for a change. Given the myriad of massive catastrophic destruction scenes, the sound guys could have gone over the top, but thankfully they restrained themselves.

Overall an OK movie although somewhat long due to a convoluted plot. Unfortunately, the never ending life & death sub-plots throughout made it fatiguing for me to sit through. Visual special effects of the earth's crust self-destructing were quite spectacular & mostly very realistic looking.

This BD was worth the 3 bucks that I paid during the close out of our last local video store.

Fed-ex seems to be having computer difficulties. I get nothing but error messages when I try to access tracking info for my speaker shipment.

Problem fixed, working now. Maybe it was on my end. Speaker out for delivery next business day. Tuesday in this case.

I converted my 5.1 to a 6.1 setup last night with wires hidden. I picked the wrong movie to test it with though. Star Trek is a 5.1 movie. The THX extended mode it ran in supplied output to the speaker, but about the only time you could hear anything coming out of it was when you put your head near it.

Will have to find a better one tonight.

I have to say, I'm loving the sound coming out of the Pioneer now. It sounds like my old system sounded. Mucho bass. Seems raising the mic to be about a foot higher than the backs of the high back couch made all the difference. Also no shrill noises coming out of the speakers to hurt my ears.

Later when I replace some of my banana plugs, I'll try the same with the Denon and see it that makes a difference with it.

What did the sock monkey think of it? They can be hard to please.

Sock monkey has no opinion of the rear surround. He's too busy bouncing around under the right surround and being sniffed by the cat.

So far, I've been lucky that the cat hasn't tried to jump on top of one of the surrounds. (knock, knock)
