this may sound silly, but has anyone wired speaker cable around a baseboard heater? are there any fire/melting issues? thanks.

I've melted other things like drum cases and such around baseboard heaters. I would try to avoid running wire around or near a baseboard heater.

avoid it - they melt

my former roomate and i did a test, it melted the plastic (not through it, but it was deformed) and it stunk. We used generic (phoenix gold i think?) 16ga cable

Actually, once melted, deformed plastic is broken in over100 hours or so, it sounds pretty good.

It seems as though audio equipment, much as fine wine, only gets better with age.
