Ok so I am about to dive in. First time with home theater. I have a 55" Toshiba rear projection HD that is great. I have decided on the following Axiom speakers: VP150(ctr), M22 (frnts), QS8 (Rear+RC), EP350 Sub. I am thinking of powering this all with an Onkyo TX-NR801. Any thoughts???

I like my new Pioneer Elite VSX-54TX, but the Onkyo you are looking at is very nice as well! Go get it!

I love my Denon 2805/Axiom combination, but hey, I don't want to confuse the newbie Just study the differances between the various models, decide what you want in an AV receiver for options, purchase one, and never look back...

good luck

I had the 800 and it was a great receiver. You won't regret buying the 801.

i have the Onkyo 701, and couldnt be happier with it. great features, plenty of power, and an awesome remote. the Onkyo instruction manual is easy to read and follow, and set up is quick and easy.

just a quick note.. the only real difference between the 701 and the 801, is that the 801 has the net-card feature that allows you to link directly to your computer and play music data from your computer throught the receiver. if this is not a feature that you are interested in, then just go with the 701. you might be able to save a few bucks. just my opinion.
