Thank you for all of your comments. The concept was born in my mind the moment my wife refused that we buy a larger TV for the family room. We have a 35" TV in the family room that is snugly recessed into the center of a wall-wide cabinet and essentially disappears when the doors to its front are closed. She was absolutely adamant about not having to look at a TV in the family room 24/7, which meant that I could not buy anything larger. So, I decided to turn the bonus room (that's what it is called around here) into the HT room.
The room is located above the garage, which abuts the house, and is accessed from within the house. Because it has a separate roof, all of the walls are isolated from the rest of the house, making it ideal for watching movies or listening music without needing to worry about waking up our six-year old.
The screen hangs down from two mounts on the insloping wall. The screen size of 102" was based on the calculations from
this site and also helpful input from
this site. The lights are from Ikea. I bought circular marble bases for them from ebay to add stability. The peaks and troughs in FR were quite minor with one EP500 and became even better with two of them. For decoration, I bought Steve Steigman's famous "Blown Away" photograph in art print as it seemed to depict my impressions of the combination of the A1400 and two EP500s. I have three custom-made plaques that need to go on the remaining barren walls when I find some time.
Thanks again for the comments.
