Hi Everyone,

It's time to start thinking about Axiom Audio's 35th Anniversary celebration. We are hoping that enough people are interested in making it that we can take over all of Lumina Resort for the weekend. We will have seminars, factory tours, and a big party on Saturday night. Lumina has a wonderful bar in the main lodge which will no doubt be a popular hangout for some (me for sure). Let’s see if we can top the fun that we all had at the 2010 celebration.

The festivities are planned for September 18th - 20th 2015. The cost is $350 for the weekend per person including the accommodation, dinner on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and all the taxes. For anyone who would like to extend their stay in either direction that can be done any time from September 15 to 24. The cost for an extended stay is the same-$175 per night per person with breakfast, dinner and taxes included.

The following is a link to Lumina Resorts website where you can take a boo at some pictures and check out the extra activities available at the resort. http://www.luminaresort.com/photo.html

Anyone that is interested in a round of golf let me know and we can arrange that.

Please let me know by PM, e-mail debbie@axiomaudio.com , or phone 1-888-352-9466 if you would like to be a part of our celebration. I will need to know if you are going to be a single, a couple, or the whole family so we can book you the appropriate cabin or room. The larger multi-bedroom cottages are great for groups of friends too.

Be sure to post here as well if you are planning the trip. We would certainly love to have you.

Woo hoo! Official word!

Thanks so much in advance for putting this on. You guys are the best. I'll be confirming later on once I figure out how many of the medic8r clan will be coming.

Awesome!

I can't wait to return! I'll also confirm (via PM or email) later, but I plan to drag the whole clan (total of 4) with me. smile

Me too please! It will likely be a family of four. Speaking of which, is there a kids rate?

Cheers!

Mike

Debbie:

Although this it is a long way out, my wife & I are tentatively planning to attend.

We may also have 2 more couples from Ontario; however, that has to be confirmed - we should know in a couple of weeks when they visit out here...

I'm in. Maybe Mrs. Tuttle, too. She's not scared of Peter any more.

Debbie, I'm pretty sure your post count is going to skyrocket because of this. I want to thank you - and apologize in advance - for what is sure to be a very interesting organizing experience.

I really hope some of the newer Axiomos here at the site make the trip. Its always good to meet the people you've been making fun of interacting with on the forums.

Play nice!! I'm more of a lab rat than an event planner but this should prove to be a lot of fun.

Ian has been hounding me for years for a higher post count. I think that this is his way of forcing the issue although I am happily volunteering for this one.

We are looking forward to seeing you AND Mrs. Tuttle there.

Kids rates just in!

0-2 yrs = $0.00
3-4 yrs = $85.00
5-8 yrs = $125.00
9-12 yrs = $150.00
13-16 yrs = $170.00

Again this includes dinner on Friday and Saturday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and all taxes.

This is something that I would like to come to... you're a couple of hours away, so why not.

Are you just trying to figure out numbers or do we do some booking.. it's over a year out.

I think I'd come with the family. so 3 people.
Posted By: MMM Re: Celebrate Good Times - 05/30/14 09:27 PM
so, as I have not been to one of these before... are there any pre-order and pick up while your there discounts??? like, maybe a good deal on a new sub? Humm.. might entice us to come on mass.

just pondering out loud..
Posted By: BBIBH Re: Celebrate Good Times - 05/30/14 10:06 PM
Matt,

I cannot speak specifically about Ian's plans, or if that happened last time, but I can relate that as one of the longest tenured members of both the board (2003) and Axiom ownership (1990, first visit to the plant in 1991), my beloved AX3's came for the ride, and alas, were traded in on M80's.
Posted By: St_PatGuy Re: Celebrate Good Times - 05/31/14 12:57 AM
I am definitely interested. Still sorry I missed the last Axiom party.
Posted By: a401classic Re: Celebrate Good Times - 05/31/14 10:38 PM
Mrs. Classic and I are in. Will have to work some details, but have 15 months to figure it out.

Since we're this far out, Lake Street Dive might be available... just a suggestion.

Debbie, what airport would we fly into?
Posted By: MMM Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 03:06 AM
Pearson is the closest. But it's still a 2 hour drive up the 400/11 to get there.

Last time, I flew into Toronto. Others came in from Buffalo.
Posted By: Cohesion Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 01:27 PM
Yes. 2+ hours from Toronto Pearson International Airport or about 4 from Buffalo. Even from Pearson it's far enough that a rental car may be the most economical option.

If people are interested we could try to organize some kind of shuttle or ride sharing.
Posted By: Adrian Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 01:27 PM
Some people flew in to Buffalo last time around as it may be cheaper for Americans to fly that way...and you could spend a day or two in Niagara as a side trip if you wanted.

Excluding any waiting at the border, it's about 1 1/2 to 2 hr drive from Buffalo to Toronto. Toronto to Dwight/Huntsville would be a couple more hours...
Posted By: michael_d Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 05:37 PM
Isn't there wine country around Buffalo?
Posted By: MMM Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 06:11 PM
hop over the boarder to Canada, and in Niagara on the Lake, there are over 180 different wineries in the region. And as that part is in a pocket with an escarpment around it, the micro climate allows for perfect grape growing.
Posted By: Boltron Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/01/14 06:35 PM
I live right by the airport. Depending on timing I'd be happy offer a ride up. It's still 1.5 years out, lot's of time to work out details.

So, let's get this straight, Sean; you're sorry for last time, but only enough to be "interested" this time? Who TF do you think WE are, your last three girlfriends? We're sick of being given the same "brush-off" lines.

If I were you, I'd ask for a deadline before I'd play that fast and loose with some of your unknowingly tenuous relationships around here.

Matt,

Since you are the only person who will openly admit to seeking Bob out (on purpose), PLEASE do the rest of us a great service and pack LOTS of duct tape. Everyone will appreciate having Bob wrapped up; we can just fasten him to one of the roof supports on Ian's deck.

Well, OK, everyone will appreciate it except Bob.

Hmmm, if Murph packs in more of that Canadian moonshine hooch and Chess drinks enough to go brain dead again, it might even be fun to suspend Bob from the ceiling and tell Chess he's a pinata.

Boy, this could be a GREAT event!!!

Love ya Bob!!! grin
Posted By: BBIBH Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/03/14 08:37 PM
Bob was the first one I ran into at the resort we were booked into last time.

...still have the dent in the car to prove it, and sorry about that Bob!

...tip the veal, try the waitress, I am here until Thursday!!

Guess ya didn't run into him enough, huh? Next time put some effort into it!
Posted By: BobKay Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/03/14 09:17 PM
Ray is correct; it is either duct tape or jail.

I could be talking about the weather or squash soup, and, if I'm within earshot of any children, I could be up on statutory charges.

There are going to be one of either 2 choices:
I flirt with an ugly trial and jail time, or...
make sure your kids are wearing their Beats for the entire weekend. Choice is yours. I'm flexible.

Posted By: BobKay Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/03/14 09:25 PM
Choices officially rescinded. I just had a visual of ALL of your kids donning headphones for the whole weekend. Sooo "Children of the Damned." I'm goin' with that one. And they all have to be the same color and style, the headphones, not your kids.

See, Matt, there it is! Do you know how many people have "privately booked" time with me in Dwight already?!
My app runneth over, so hurry and get on the sign-up sheet as quickly as you can. (There it is, taped to Ray's back, right above the "Kick Me" sign.)

Love ya, Ray!!

Chess brain dead? I don't remember ANYTHING after that one cup of it. Chess informed me the following day that he "helped" me out of my van. At least he was somewhat coherent smile.

My buddy Bob was the only one to drive to the resort I was at to introduce himself and offer assistance installing the ramp necessary to get into the cottage I rented. I'll never forget that.

Just don't get too close, Matt. I'll get jealous.

Here is an update to our 35th anniversary party preparations.

There have been some questions regarding travel from the airport to the lodge. There are a few options. There is and airport shuttle that goes from Pearson Airport to Huntsville every day. It leaves the airport at 2:00pm and arrives in Huntsville at 4:30pm. The cost for this option is approximately $91.00 (one way) and I will make sure that you have a ride from Huntsville should you choose this option. Probably the better option would be to rent a car which will be less money and you have a car. It would be very inexpensive if a few people got together on the rental. There will also be some coming from Toronto anyway so you may be able to hitch a ride. Anyone willing to offer a ride you can post that here. Boltron has already put the offer out depending on timing and I’m quite sure that there will be some takers on that offer. Thank you Boltron!

When Do We Have To Book?
The best plan is to book now or as early as possible. We suspect it will sell out fairly quickly especially once we announce it formally in the newsletter. We have started here on the boards to give everyone here first dibs; and judging by the posts PMs and emails that I have been receiving it’s going to be a full house. We would require a $70.00 (20%) deposit per person (less for children according to the rates) to hold a room for you and that will be deducted from your room bill at the end of your stay. For those staying longer or coming early (or both) the deposit will be the same. If you are unsure of the number in your party you can book what you know now and let us know the tentative final number later.

Will There Be Factory Tours and Seminars?
Absolutely! Ian and Andrew will be organizing seminars and discussions which always prove to be very interesting and informative and I will be conducting factory tours for anyone interested in seeing where Axiom products are manufactured.

Debbie - a suggestion.

Remembering the 30 anniversary preparations and communications, I'm pretty sure the young lady who was in charge of it all (I don't remember who she was), was feeling like she was herding cats. Plus, this thread is likely to grow to be large and unwieldy over the next bunch of months and your updates may get lost as you add them as the thread grows to 26.984 replies. :-)

May I suggest that you organize things by either
1) starting a new thread that only YOU can post to so that the first post in the thread provides all of the pertinent information. At the top, put in a line (large type, bold) the date that the information was last updated If you add information, you can add it to that single place PLUS everyone will know where to look for the up-to date info.

>> OR <<
2) Take over the first post in THIS thread and use that pfirst post as the up-to-date info section like described above.

This thread (the one we are in now) can then be used for posts by everyone.

If you let it run like it is, it will quickly become ineffective.

So do I. Maybe that's why some of the others went "missing"?

Ray, Scott, Tom and I have little sympathy for your qualms on the quality of your hair. Get back to us when you have to worry about the quantity.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Celebrate Good Times - 06/16/14 05:25 PM
I can't speak for Andy, but I have to have mine cut pretty often, lest it become a mane that tickles my shoulders.

Is that an OK complaint? grin

Edit: You guys all got the height, so....

Edit again: Maybe all of our hair grew to the same length, but my diminutive height means I haven't outgrown it?

I'm just glad that you finished the line "a mane that tickles my...." with "shoulders".

God put hair on all of the imperfect heads. Some of you guys should feel lucky as Mark points out. If you were any shorter, your legs wouldn't reach the ground.

The Murphshine delivery is confirmed!! Thank you for your order.

It only took a few pics of the area to convince Sharon we need to spend some time there.

Debbie,
I noticed that "Expedited Delivery" is an option on the reservation page. If I pay the extra 15 dollars does it mean the party will be moved to this fall instead of 2015?

Posted By: bridgman Re: Celebrate Good Times - 07/10/14 10:49 PM
Oh good, I wasn't the only one who sprung for expedited delivery.
Posted By: nickbuol Re: Celebrate Good Times - 01/12/15 07:00 PM
What is the last date that people can book this?

My company just expanded my team to include a technician in Toronto. If I play my cards right, September would be a perfect time for a work visit, and then I just extend my trip into the weekend.

The problem is that my company's contract is up for renewal this summer and I don't want to (can't) commit until after I know that I will still be working with a site in Toronto which might not be until the end of July or early August.

Maybe I should ask Debbie.

I'm debating on whether to drive or fly. We normally do a road trip in Sep to the Desert SW; however, this would be an epic journey from the West Coast & back.

We would like to do this for nostalgic reasons as we haven't driven that way in 20 - 30 years...

I still haven't heard back from anyone at Axiom about the drop dead date for signing up for this. I even sent Debbie a PM. Hopefully it isn't too late already.

It's not too late at all. There is still lots of accommodation at the resort. That will be the cut off - not a date.

Great. Thanks Debbie.

We made our bookings for our trip to Ontario this September.

We are flying WestJet from Comox, BC to Toronto to spend a couple of days with in-laws in the Niagara region. Then we'll drive up together to Ottawa for a few days then head over to Dwight for the party weekend - yahoooo!

There is a possibility that we may go to a friend's cottage in the Sudbury area for a few days before returning to Ottawa.

The icing on the cake will be our return trip. We will be taking a 5-day rail trip on VIA Rail from Ottawa to Vancouver. We have booked a 2-bed cabin so it should be a nice way to cross much of Canada in the beautiful & colourful fall season. It will be nostalgic as well, because that is exactly how I traveled as a naive 18 year old to 'boot camp' in the fall of 1966 - Belleville, Ontario to Vancouver, BC. I've wanted to do this for years...

Fantastic. The cross-Canada train trip is a wonderful experience (and I don't know anyone else who has done it). If you're like me it's worth waking up in the middle of the night when the train stops in out-of-the-way places so you can sight-see for a couple of minutes.

A couple of years ago, my wife took the cross Canada train trip with her aunt(who lives in Oklahoma)starting from Toronto. (I couldn't go because of other commitments). They actually broke it up in to two sections by taking the Via from TO to Jasper, Alta., stopping in Jasper for a couple of nights, then taking a different train from Jasper(The Rocky Mountaineer) from Jasper to Vancouver. They both loved Jasper and the scenery was incredible. The Rocky Mountaineer is an excellent train trip, however, it has no sleeper cabins so they stopped one night in Kamloops, B.C.continuing on the next day till they reached their destination. It can be done either way(Via straight through to Vancouver) or what I described above.

Not cheap though, it was around $4000 each. I would expect though, the Via straight through would be a little less.
Posted By: exlabdriver Re: Celebrate Good Times - 02/08/15 07:21 PM
Like the Rocky Mountaineer, the Transcontinental VIA Train has largely become a tourist train for those who want to travel really long distances & see the country. It is therefore priced that way now; however, judging from the way that the reservations fill up months in advance, they have no trouble selling out all of their sleeping accommodation services.

Our fare for 2 includes 4 nights/5 days in a 2-bed cabin with all meals included. If you have no discount plans, the fare is ~ $3800 CAN for our trip - a bargain if you have US Dollars.

Contrast that to the Grand Canyon Train that we did out of Williams, AZ to the South Rim a couple of years ago. It was ~ $1000 US for 2 that included 3 nights in their hotels (2 nights at Williams & 1 at the South Rim), & 4 meals each & about 6 hours train travel time. Well worth it IMO, but I like trains, ha!!

So as quickly as it came, it went away... The client office that we were supporting in Toronto that we started at on January 5th of this year just stopped needing our support this past Friday. Just barely over 3 months worth of support. The client had sold the business, so we knew it was short term, but I was hoping to at least go through the end of this year so that I could utilize work provided airfare for the big bash in September.

Flights are currently looking like they will be about $710 round trip, plus the weekend cost is just a bit too steep for me. The weekend cost was going to be subsidized by any birthday funds I might happen to scrounge up, but I won't have any airfare miles built up in September due to family trips this summer.

Sad times....

Thanks for the thought, Fred. Would gladly get 3 hours sleep, then drive 750 miles, for another round of late night joking and uproarious laughs with you and the guys. For real! I just realized this: there were 5 of us in that room and I was the only American. Boy, you guys WERE wasted, but I had NO excuse.

Gearing up for my 9th life/incarnation, which I knew would be at its busiest time right about a month from now. I hope you guys can find another never-had-a-drink-in-his-life Axiomoe w/ a 7-passenger van to tote your blasted asses around.

Newbies beware: There are some Canadians you will meet, who though great guys and great fun, can get pretty sloppy at a party. If a Canadian man stands up, do NOT take his seat without touching a paper towel to it first. Cam excluded, of course. Oh, no, no! He's as sloppy as they get, it's just that the seat thing is a non-issue. Or Non-tissue.

If I could convince Chris to do it with me, last minute. I'd love to just crash it. Gawd, I haven't crashed a party in years. Well, not alone, anyway.

My one sore that's keeping me bedridden will *hopefully* heal up soon, and I get away for the festivities and some mind-freeing time. Friday Night-Get-together and get-to-know-you at the resorts Lake of Bays Club
Saturday-Factory tours, round table discussions (ideas for topics welcome), mingling, and a live dock concert to close the night. The concert will move indoors if the weather doesn't co-operate.
Sunday-Breakfast and good-byes at the resort.

We can't have a "like" button, ever. Why? It will be misused and abused by too many of us. We have a history of abuse of "features" here. Boy, that was fun! I still miss it.

Cam, if I could give all of my own "health hopes" for the month to you, so you can go to Dwight, I would. I hope you can and do. (Crapola! If THIS many people who have proven that they can tolerate me in person were going, I may have considered it.)

Attn: Newbies to Dwight!

Oh, he may be a nice guy; bright, great sense of humor and all, but do not let that fool you! Cam is a terrorist in pity drag. If you get into it with him about anything, he can saw you in half with his eyes! You've been warned.

Have a great time, all. WTH, I don't have to WISH it for any of you. You WILL have a great time!

P.S. If you can't get Amie to show you her shoe "closet," ask her to at least show you the architectural renderings and the floor plans.

Well, we got the worst part of our journey to Dwight over on Saturday. Typical, our 5 AM departure aircraft was broken in Comox so we never got away till 1130 AM, finally arriving in Toronto at 9 PM - about 4 hours late. Then a 2 hour drive to Ft Erie in the dark & rain.

Yesterday we did The Niagara Gorge (hike) & The Falls under brilliant sunny skies. Going to the Welland Canal Museum today to watch some lakers transit the locks - again beautiful weather.

Off to Ottawa tomorrow & taking the highway south of Lk Ontario to miss driving thru Toronto...

If you take the highway south of Lake Ontario, you will be crossing into the US and driving well into NY state before crossing back into Canada.

Most of the work that was to happen this weekend won't happen, so I've got Saturday free. I plan to get up early and drive, but how early I have to get up depends on when stuff starts.

So, what time do things kick off on Saturday?

Hi Fred,

This is great news that you can make it for Saturday. The factory tours start at 9:30 and we will have one every 1.5 hours throughout the day. The round table chat starts at 1pm. Dinner is from 6 to 7 with the live show at 9:30.

Just started my journey to Hunstville, with a few stops planned along the way. I should arrive mid afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing the place again.....3rd time beginning in 1991 my friends!

Hopefully you guys get to hear some Axiom Airs!

Hopefully pics will be posted throughout the day so at least I can be there in sprit.

The spirits don't typically come out till late in the day.

Well, I have checked in to the Lumina....after the required drive to the factory, no rookie here! Weather is raining and cooler than earlier today.

Dinner to follow, but the resort seems almost empty. Hopefully there will be a good turnout!

Once they show up, they don't take long to make up for lost time though.

Not via Murph I don't think. Many people at the last gathering travelled quite a distance to attend.

I'm sure this gathering will be tons of fun, but I will miss those I had a chance to meet last time.

I know you're talking about me, Fred.
Posted By: BBIBH Re: Celebrate Good Times - 09/19/15 06:10 AM
So, 2am EDT, and the bar at Lumina just closed.. Onn an TAM did their best but I ended up shutting down the Axiom amps, LFR's and twin 800's for the last staff.

The Axiom Air was supplying the music, and the interface was decent....but hopefully the Axiom staff assigned to the product will provide patches to the vulnerabilities I managed to expose with a small effort......suffice to say that "Steve" was blamed for the scripts I assembled to take the system down when AirPlay was the host.

The food was awesome, Ian and Aime great hosts, and Linda from Lumina a great dance partner...funny, as I had a great dance partner at the 30th...what was her name?

Onn, glad you made the trip!
Tam, or Exlabdriver, great drinking and trading war/speaker stories with you!
Debbie, once again you prove to be a wonderful representative of Axiom....and maybe I will let you drive my car! 😀

For the Aciom Air, there was really nothing to see as it was just a couple of circuit boards connected via a few wires - no case.

It was a lot of fun this weekend. Exlabdriver was as"shy" as is his on line persona. Onn is a real gentleman. It was a pleasure to see John Palumbo for the first time in ten years.

Doug Schneider from Soundstage also made it ... If you haven't read his reviews, check them out.

James Tanner from Bryston joined in the round table ... His humble approach is amazing (this one is not sarcasm).

Amie is a wonderful hostess!

Ian and his crew are an asset to the business. They have a passion for real, solid engineering and an appreciation for quality products, whether they make the product or not.

Thanks to all involved for a stellar weekend!

This is from my phone, so please forgive my usual typos. smile

P.S. I don't really think that, but I it seemed like the most logical way to end the post. Also, it was a lot of fun to "say" out loud.

Hey, you were at the last gathering. You already knew we were a bunch of deadbeats.

Since I took pics with an actual camera, I won't be able to post until I get home next week & upload them to my PC.

In the meantime, many thanks to the Axiom folks for hosting this most enjoyable event. It was quite like a gathering of 'pen pals' but in the modern era.

It is quite incredible to see the new manufacturing processes that Axiom is now employing there since the last time I visited several years ago - way more than many other manufacturers I suspect.

I toured Canada's 'War Museum'today - most impressive & will do the 'Aviation Museum' tomorrow to see some of the vintage aircraft that I once flew in the last century...

Hope you guys had a good time, it sounds like the party was somewhat smaller this time around.

I had every intention of attending but my father had a very serious accident on the west coast (several weeks ago) and had to rush out there, so I was unable to. Just got back early this morning.

Ok, so a long overdue review of the recent 35th anniversary!

Friday night was spent listening to music on a special system, one that would have a list price of a small automobile. The speakers were LFR’s couple with 2 EP 800’s. Rumour has it that these speakers were heading home with Craigsub, possibly for an upcoming test? These were driven by 2 large ADA’s mated to a Bryston preamp. The music was provided by a USB stick attached to the bare bones circuit boards of the Axiom Air. It sounded incredible, and when Ian asked us to test the Air via our phones, mayhem ensued.

While I commented previously that the product was vulnerable, the truth is that it did not seem well equipped to handle the volume of connected users – which to be honest was less than 10. There were also issues with various users (both Android and iPhone ) not able to connect, while others could.
Saturday started with factory tours, Ian with one group and Debbie/Andrew handling the second. Having attended the 30th, it was quite an eye opener how much had changed and improved. Interestingly as this is the product everyone is interested in, there was only 1 Air that I sighted, albeit in the lab. We stumbled upon a few prototypes of the Axiom/Bryston speakers and a “Pro” Axiom subwoofer that according to Ian was incredibly efficient! Production was in operation, and when asked a question, each Axiom team member would spend time with us, happy to share their knowledge. Each and every member gleamed with a pride of being part of this great company.

After the tours, we went back to the resort, and lunch was served. The round tables began after lunch, and unfortunately work took priority for me, and I missed most of this. As reported earlier, James Tanner from Bryston was an eager participant, and added great knowledge to the portion I could attend.

Dinner was very good, and then we watched in anticipation while the band setup. I asked that the room with the Friday night system could be opened, as FredK wanted to hear the LFR’s. I managed to get everything online – Axiom Air was a bit problematic, but once online, people worked the system over until the band began. Connectivity problems again plagued the people attempting to play with it.

A good group of musicians, they entertained with several sets. I will admit they were not to my taste, but a tight outfit none the less. I left after the 1st set of originals

Sunday was departure day for most, and really the only good weather day of the weekend. I spoke with Tom, and we agreed it was a decent anniversary. In terms of the magnitude of the 30th, this was more subdued, laidback and refined.

I would like to thank Ian and Debbie for their tremendous efforts in making us feel at home and well taken care of. As one of their longest serving “Axiomites” I salute every member of the factory!

To the forum members who I wandered around with:

Exlabdriver – Tom, great to meet you, and glad you survived the bartenders “Liquid Cocaine” shots!

Onn – nice to see you again, go Eskimos!

FredK – glad you got to hear the LFR’s and did you ever get hooked up to the Air before Andrew grabbed control?

Craigsub - looking forward to more reviews and comparisons, hope you managed to get your new speakers home!

John Palumbo – nice to see you again, and glad there was not a ping pong table around this time!

Doug Schneider – great to talk audio shop and hear your experiences at other audio companies. Give Fremont Street a try during non-CES time!

Mike, thank you very much for that narrative!

I was disappointed to miss the opportunity to see you, Ian, Amie, Debbie, Andrew, Mel, Tom, Fred, John, Craig and so many others.

Most unfortunately, no, I didn't. Still bedridden, pal.

Mike - It was a pleasure meeting both you and Fred (I was remiss not mentioning this earlier). The entire weekend, while possibly more subdued than anticipated, was still quite enjoyable.

I do have a pretty large system coming in, and not just as a review system. In the three months of ownership of the M100's, they have, along with the VP180 HP and EP800, become my personal reference for speakers.

During these three months, I have spent some time with B&W 803 Diamonds in addition to the Legacy Signature SE's and Klipsch LaScala II's. The B&W's were at a high end store, with the same source material used with the Legacy's and M100's.

It has been a fascinating experience. One part of the learning curve is this: I found that I was biased AGAINST Axiom products. When doing tests against the Legacy Signature's, when sighted, I preferred the Legacy's. When blind, I preferred the M100's, every time.

Based on realizing this, some good people pointed me to some videos of Floyd Toole explaining how often this happens, even with "experienced reviewers". Over the past weeks, I have watched about 7 hours of Floyd Tool videos, including his research on the sound power curve, and why it's so important to sound quality to have good performance in this curve.

After some conversations with Ian about this, and what the listening experiences have revealed, I ordered a pair of LFR1100's, a pair of EP800's and a pair of M3's.

There will be more testing done, but mostly this was ordered because I want the equipment for my own enjoyment.

Our high end system in our "basement theater" will consist of LFR1100's front, driven by an ADA-1500-4. The VP180 center and M100 rear channels will be driven by an ADA-1000-5 (with only 3 channels used).

It is going to be a lot of fun - especially with an EP800 anchoring this system.

If the LFR-1100's are yet another step forward to what the M100's can do, this system should be close to, if not completely, state of the art.

I hope to have some informative GTG's here this winter. Studying Toole's ideals, doing proper blind and/or double blind tests will be easily accomplished.

Hopefully, this will add something worthy to the audio community.

And again, it was a pleasure to meet everyone this weekend.
Posted By: Cohesion Re: Celebrate Good Times - 09/28/15 12:49 AM
FWIW my own system includes LFRs powered by an ADA-1500-4 and it rocks! Even without a decent subwoofer! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new system!

Well Scott, as mentioned before, there was really nothing earth shatteringly new and the Axiom Air product was seen in 1 completed form. The pieces we had to play with were really just circuit boards and cables...

Tom (or TAM/exlabdriver) took the most pictures and as he mentioned, he was travelling back via train and it would be sometime before he could post.
Posted By: a401classic Re: Celebrate Good Times - 09/28/15 09:44 PM
I wasn't too concerned with the hardware end of things. More interested in the people and the party. Ian and Amie know how to do it right! Hoping desperately that because I had hinted at getting Lake Street Dive as the entertainment, then not being able to go that they would actually BE the entertainment - and I'd miss it...

Here are some pics of the Axiom visit. Thankfully I have nothing from the Friday night bash but Sat & Sun are included here.

The factory tour was very enlightening & it was amazing to see what Axiom is now accomplishing with their new manufacturing tools & processes:

Top secret I think, ha!!

TAM
Posted By: Mojo Re: Celebrate Good Times - 10/03/15 02:10 PM
Those aren't connectors.

If you look closely, it's a matter/antimatter reaction assembly utilizing deuterium and anti-deuterium reacting in a dilithium crystal matrix.

It's obvious Axiom isn't satisfied with using Lithium batteries for its wireless speakers.
