I'm surprised there haven't been any posting about it yet? Don't we have Sopranos' fans on this forum?

Any opinion to how it ended? Unlike most other people, I never thought that my cable or TV went out during that last 5 seconds. All I was thinking was "Huh?" In retrospect, I now think that it was pretty genious ending albeit confusing

I didn't see it because I don't have cable. But I always thought it would be serendipitous if somehow The Sopranos and Lost shared a common ending. Like Tony going to the island and wiping them all out or something like that .

Well like just about everybody I thought my cable had a problem when it cut to black and felt that there wasn't closure. Upon reflecting on it today, I began to realize just how brilliant the ending actually was and how Chase has left us to interpret whatever ending we wanted: was Tony killed or not? Did it just end with a typical dinner get-together with the family that mattered? If he wasn't killed is he going to get indicted in any event and end up like Junior? Was the cat Chris or Adriana reincarted or was it Chase doing an Edgar Allen Poe on us?

The paranoia and tension at the end can be interpreted so many ways. Who was being paraniod: Tony or the viewer? Anybody with a major in English Literature would love taking apart this ending. Its cinematic high art at its finest, and typical of Chase breaking conventions with this series right to the end.

But I can understand why so many people felt let down and considered it anti-climatic. Without the typical Hollywood spoonfed ending, Chase is forcing us to think hard about the final episode, the season and the entire series. At least Phil got what he deserved.

From a business perspective it also served HBO not to be definitive. The DVD release is supposed to contain several alternative endings so guess how many of the several million viewers from last night will buy it. And it also sets up a movie in a few years. Lets face it there are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. This ending lets the viewer decide what happened but doesn't close the door to a sequel series for Chase and HBO.

F.....g brilliant anyway you look at it!

I haven't even seen an episode. Is it too late for me?

My friends who watched the DVDs two or three episodes at at time seem to like it much more.

I've seen the DVDs and its like rereading a fine novel. There are layers that you peel back the second time that you missed the first time.

Yeah, and what's up with the people who never reread anything? They leave all of those layers unmolested.

I watched the first couple of episodes of season 1 and never got into it. That and the fact that I don't have HBO kept me away. I'm actually suprised at the number of people that do have HBO and are able to watch it on a regular basis. My cable bill is expensive enough already with adding the premium channels into the mix.

I watched it last night (it was recorded).

At first I was pissed off and cussing like a madman. I’ve been watching this series since episode # 1 and it’s the only reason I continue to subscribe to HBO. If it weren’t for Deadwood, Rome and a few fights now and then, I’d cancel HBO and get rid of this brain draining device called Satellite.

This morning I feel better about the ending. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a movie come out or a tag along series. Plus, Phil got whacked…..

At this point I'm coming to the conclusion who Chase wanted wacked in the ending...us...the viewer. When Bobby tells Tony in the first episode of the season that when you get killed everything goes black he was giving the viewer a hint. So its the viewers that had everything go black, not Tony and his family who were having a pleasant dinner eating onion rings. We got whacked and Chase had the last laugh. Hitchcock would be proud.

Hi all,

I was very disappointed with this entire season. It seemed like they rushed everything to resolve it for the series ending. I realize that no matter how the series was finished, someone would be displeased. My beef is the lack of a true ending, to keep the series alive if they choose to do a movie or whatever. What the heck is the point of watching the friggin thing if it is up to the viewer to decide what happened? Some call this genius....I'm sorry but I call it a cop out. Money talks, so that is what they did so they could guarantee a movie or future project. If you are saying the series is over, end it already!!!!

On a more positive side, I loved the way they polished off Phil. I was LMAO when the SUV rolled over his mellon....

Oh, and why didn't Tony get to use that awesome rifle Bobby gave him?? Come on?!?!?!

Ok, I'm done b&^$##^&

I've never watched this program, probably because mafia themed shows or movies just don't appeal to me. I have a tendency not to watch series on the premium channels since I pay for these things so I can watch movies.

I have loved The Sopranos since the beginning. I thought the ending was brilliant.
