Didn't know if you guys have heard about this in the news or not, but it's definitely worth watching
.
All I can say is Wow!!
Yeah, I just saw it on Digg just a moment.
Regardless whether JP is pulling a prank or under some sort of influence, it's hilarious! Letterman shines in those kind of situations.
Letterman sure does, I love it when he asked to reiterate that "it's just a joke, it's just a joke"
Funny. The guy is acting though...
Bizarre to say the least. Whether it was an act or not it is certainly creating a lot of buzz.
Looks like CBS pulled it, not available anymore.

Nope, that one is no good either.

It's totally an act. You can see him crack a smile when Letterman closes with "It sure was too bad you couldn't be here tonight."
If it's an act then I can't understand why the video has been pulled off YouTube and even CBS's/David Letterman's own website.
Nope, not an act. If it was, then there is no such thing as bad publicity, so why remove it?
It's still up on Letterman's site. Try this page under "Where's Joaquin?"
http://lateshow.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/I'm with Peter. He responded a little too quickly on a couple occasions. Real or acting, it's still a freakshow.
Link works... luv the avatar, Mr. Tuttle!
It's an act.
Funny as heck also.
They'd pull it from YouTube because CBS is helmed by a bunch of clueless morons.
I'm siding with the act people.
I found a few news articles (one linked below) where people who seem to be "in the know" say that he is working on a mockumentary with Casey Affleck doing these kinds of "stunts"...
Here is more if you want to read about it:
Boston Herald About Joaquin's Letterman Stint There is even an entry on IMDB (Internet Movie Database) about it:

That's awesome. Makes a lot of sense. Saw another article where the director from his last movie was going on about how he was so sorry that Phoenix was losing it, etc. Kaufman-esque sounds right.
The first thing I thought when he walked out was "Andy Kaufman," but I'll let James Lipton decide whether it's acting or not.
"What uh, well can you tell us about your days with the uni-bomber"
Hilarious.
Whenever I saw this, the first thought that came to my mind ... Andy Kaufman!
It's totally an act. You can see him crack a smile when Letterman closes with "It sure was too bad you couldn't be here tonight."
Letterman at his finest - so funny he even got J.P. to break character, so to speak...
The video of him rapping at a nightclub looking inebriated and then falling off the stage is pretty hilarious.
He did release a statement to the press after the aforementioned video saying that it's not a joke, stunt etc. and that he didn't care what people thought. It was on Yahoo news yesterday.
Ken, that would be a great name for a band!
