I was walking down the stairs to my studio when, in a moment of carelessness, I missed the last two steps. I landed so hard I cannot believe that I didn't break my ankle. eek

Instead I got a severe sprain. Hurt like hell it did!

Needless to say, I won't be playing a drum session I was supposed to do today.

Below is a pic of the offending foot, day 5. It was much worse. It had swelled up bigger than Rush Limbaugh's big head (except not as ugly) and I really thought I was going to have to ride in an ambulance.

So remember kids, watch it when you casually stroll down them stairs. That last step is a doozy!

Needless to say, my ballet career has been put on hold... grin

You left yourself wide open with "a moment of carelessness" smile

I am glad you did not break your neck or one of your hands. Sprains can be very uncomfortable though and I wish you regeneration and god health as soon as possible.

Thanks! What's sad is I've done this before on these very same stairs. Except I fell running up them! blush

I have a 3 story house, so I'm always up and down the stairs.

But I'm usually much more careful. I landed so hard that I momentarily blacked out. I hit my head and my elbow actually put a hole in the wall! I was lying there crumpled, on the landing thinking 'FU#K! Now I gotta call 911 cause I'm going to look down and see a protruding bone...'

And sadly, I was thinking how much it was going to cost for an ambulance and emergency room visit. mad

But hey, I needed some time off. Now I can lay around and listen to music and watch movies. I have a great gf who'll nurse me back to health. wink

But man, as the cop movie cliché goes: "I'm too old for this $hit!"

Nice. You know, they make those lifts that will ride you up and down stairs.....

I've done the same thing, or about. I've got a 3 level home. I was walking and looking at an index in a book at the same time and missed the top step. Thought it was one step out further than it was. I tumbled half of the way down, and caught myself in a strange position. Hurt my left shoulder, but didn't know it for about a year later, when it finally started to hurt. Then I missed the bottom 2 steps and tumbled all over again. Now I pay a lot more attention to what I'm doing.

Lmao! I always make fun of those commercials. The old man slowly cruising up the stairs...

I'm not laughing at them anymore. eek

Seriously.

I can't wait until I'm really old and decrepit and lose mobility. Then I can get one of those Hoverounds and terrorize the young folks!

A hoveround with a mega-watt stereo!! of course you'll be listening to Perry Como at that stage of life, anyway.

Remember, by the time you need one, you will likely (also) have diabetes, be severely obese, poor of sight, hard of hearing, lack bowel composure, and worse.

And, by then, EVERY teenager will be armed and you will terrorize them only once.

Careful what ya wish for...

And I do hope you're mended asap.

Sorry to see that nasty foot.
A buddy recently broke his foot sliding down a wet ramp that had lost a bit of the traction matting (aka tar paper). But after a year, he is back to flying around with a giant kite and a basically a lawn mower engine with a prop strapped to his back. So there is hope!

When I rotated through the VA hospitals, I saw a lot of HONDAs. You know,

Hypertensive
Obese
Nicotine-
Dependent
Alcoholic

That would also play in the other thread. How many kilometers on that one, Mark?
