I was wondering which reciever would go best with my Axiom's. From what I understand I cant go wrong with either, but I still would like to get your opinion. Im interested in the
Rotel RSX-1067
or
Arcam AVR350
Right now Im running a VP150, a pair of M60's, and a Pair of Qs8's off of a Sony Str Da2000ES reciever. The Axioms sound amazing, but I do know they will sound even better with a higher end reciever. Oh by the way Ive had my Axioms for almost a year now and I couldnt be happier. I love them. Thanks

I had considered the Rotel when shopping for recievers, along with the NAD t773, B&K AVR507 and a couple others. I ended up deciding on the B&K. The NAD was on the list because of the sound and power, however I had reservations about it due to the problems some people have encountered with noise on some of the lower end models from NAD. And i do not like the NAD binding posts. I had a set break on my C370 amp. However They are simple to replace, They are a bad design and are prone to breaking in my opinion.

The rotel is nice but I dont know how well it mates with the axioms soundwise.

You cant go wrong with anything at this price range if you ask me.

Filly, nobody knows that they'll sound even better with a "higher end receiver". If your present 2000ES is in good condition it's amplifying transparently with flat frequency response and inaudibly low noise and distortion. Paying more money can't improve on this and "higher end" will essentially mean only higher cost. Yes, either of the receivers that you've mentioned are excellent, but unless you have some specific reason for getting a replacement besides hope, there should be more significant uses of your resources available.

Your Sony probably sounds great. Your new receiver will sound better, but that's only because your mind will be telling you so. Maybe at very high listening levels they could actually sound better, but if I were you I would keep your current receiver and use the money on something that will definetly improve the sound- like an EP500.

If you are definite about getting a new receiver, buy the one that you think looks the coolest

because you can't go wrong either way.

Does that sony have preouts? Perhaps your next best bet is to get some separate amplification for your fronts.

That's a good idea. You have a lot of amplification options for the money - anywhere from a few Outlaw monoblocks to a nice 7 channel amp. I've always figured that when I upgrade my RX-v2400, I would get a nice 7 channel amp first.

Yes the Sony has pre outs. What would be a great amp for my system. I guess my reason for thinking is my stereo origins are in car stereo. I quit that because i watch way more movies then listen to music and i was sick of getting my equipment stolen. But anyway I just know how much better my stereo got by just having nicer equipment. Not Necessarily more power just better quality amps. I was really big into SoundStream amps and I started with a 405s then went to Class A Piccasso and Class A 5.0. Now the piccasso had alot less power for the mids and highs but the quality of the sound was alot clearer and accurate. Because it was a better quality amp. Then that got stolen then I went with a DaVinci. And thats a whole other story. But anyway Maybe im nuts and like to tinker way too much. So maybe an Amp would be a better choice. What is a good amp that would run everything except my Epic 350. Then maybe I could upgrade to an Ep500.

Their 7200 or really any of their other amplifiers would also be great for your system. Outlaw doesn't overrate their amplifiers- this is a "true" 200watts per channel. My personal preference is for the 7125 for cost/performance.

Perhaps you could go for an amp like these or a brand you prefer, then at a later date you'll get the bug to upgrade again, and you can get a nice pre-amp.

I just bought a 990/7125 and am very happy, especially for movies (still tweaking the music side of things). With the 7125 (125 WPC at 8 ohm) at $999 and the 770 at $1999, you'd have an extra grand to get the EP500 or, better yet, EP600. Sonically you'll get much better payoff than going with a more expensive amp and the EP350.

In addition to the Outlaw, have a look at this as well. 200 watts per channel. Monoblock style amps that slide into a chassis. And a few hundred less than the outlaw.

Out of all the options I’ve seen here, and the budget you specified, I can tell you that your very best option that will give you the most notable improvement in sound quality would be buying the EP600. The sub alone will astound you and even though it isn’t a sealed sub, it is incredibly musical. The 500 is good, but the 600 is great. I upgraded to the 600 from the 500 and have absolutely no regrets. Get that first and then contemplate an additional amp.

wait a minute, I thought my 350 was good, and my 500 is great.

Yep, there are a few bars/pubs here in Des Moines that serve a great Guiness.

I work next door to a top rated micro brewery if that counts. The owner has a Dr. in brew makeing. I get free beer every once in awhile. Yeah I think Im going to go with the outlaw pre amp and amp combo, and upgrade my sub. when I get the cash to do so. I do love that 350 though. Thanks

nothing wrong with having two subs, as long as your room is not to small.

This was a couple winters ago. I heard there was a difference with the taste the closer you get to the brewery, but didn’t believe it until I spent some time in Europe. The stuff at the brewery is awesome.

Hey thanks for all the info. I decided to go with the outlaw 7125 amp and the 990 preamp combo. Then when Im ready I will upgrade the sub. I will probably get the ep600. Thanks!
