I just purchased the Denon 3806....should be here tomorrow.

I am running 7.1 with M80s, V150, and 4 QS8s and an SVS PB Ultra12/2...do you guys think the Denon will be enough for all that? If not any recommendations for a cheap(under 500 Dollars) Amp that I can run with this setup?

Thanks

TB

TB, the maximum power that you'd need at any instant would depend on factors such as how loud an average volume level you use, how wide the dynamic range of the material being played is, how big and how live is your listening room, how far away you're sitting, etc. Your Axioms have average to slightly higher than average sensitivity(the sub of course has its own amp and doesn't use any power from the 3806; it'll relieve the speakers and 3806 from having to power the lowest bass frequencies). About 1 watt will be used by them at a comfortably loud level, but of course brief peaks will use much more, although not likely more than 100 watts or so. In most cases your 3806 should have more than enough maximum capacity and additional amplification wouldn't be of any benefit.

I'm running mine with the AVR2105 which is rated 90W/ch. The 3806 is more than adequate.

I feel better because Denon won't say they will power the 4 ohm speakers. I was worried that I would have to get another amp. I have had the speakers since September, but no receiver. I have been hemming and hawing for months...my wife finally said pick a damn receiver or get rid of the speakers...phew

Denon is one of the brands that Axiom recommends to drive 80's. You will have no problems. I have a 2805 basically driving the same setup you have, except I have an EP600 sub.

I ran the Denon 3805 with the 80's and never had any problems.

What do you think of it? I have read a few reviews that indicate that it's hard to setup & use, but one never really knows what caliber of user. As you own Axioms, you are obviously intelligent , and so I'm curious what you think.

I'm seriously debating just purchasing one of these instead of a dedicated pre-processor. Seems like a heck of a lot more features for the money, compared to an offering from Outlaw or Emotiva.

You may want to check out the receiver poll that I did a while back.

Denon was by far the number one choice of Axiomites, with nearly 1/3 of us going that route. To echo Randy and the others, you'll be fine.

Enjoy!
