So on Tuesday I got my mail from Noreen. Awesome! I can't wait to try out the M60/QS8/VP150 that I bought.

Wednesday at 7am, the truck is out for delivery. That was surprisingly fast.
Wednesday at 10am... the tracker says that the delivery failed? I call up and find out that Axiom forgot to mention that I live in an apartment. No big deal, I give them the information and reschedule for the next day.

Thursday rolls around and for the entire day the truck is out for delivery, but nothing comes. I call, apparently too many packages to deliver in the area. "Tomorrow for sure!" I'm told.

Today, again, I'm forced to stay at home. And today again nothing. I call one more time and am told that something's up with the Purolator services in my area and that they can't find out what's the problem exactly. To top it off I'm not the only one getting screwed, which is supposed to be comforting. So it's pushed back to Monday and even then they can't guarantee anything.

This is the first time I've had to deal with Purolator. Is their service always this terrible and poorly organized? It's off to a very bad start and they can't even tell if it's possible for me to go pick up the packages myself - they simply have no idea what's going on.

I'm patient and don't mind the wait, but that's two days in a row that I'm forced to stay home because of Purolator screw-ups.

We don't use Purolator in the states, but I remember many posts in the past where others have not been very happy with the service.

It depends on each depot and each company. With me, they have been way above excellent, including a few times passing more than once a day if I was absent in the morning and some other outstanding occasions. It has a lot to do with the local employees.

Purolator is excellent in my area as well. You should call purolator, usually you can pick up your package at a specific location locally if you missed delivery.

In that case it could be only the Montreal employees who are mucking about, but it's still amazing that the best answer I can get from the Purolator support line is "we don't know what's happening there, we don't know if you can pick up your packages yourself because of something". I'm paraphrasing a little, but that's pretty much the gist of what they told me.

So yeah, no going to the depot to grab my things \:\(

One single truck driver high on dope can ruin the reputation of a company so fast...

It's summertime, lots of regular drivers and other personel on vacation so things can get very messed up in a very short period of time and the people filling in for those on vacation very rarely have all the training and persistance to follow things through, "It's not their job" so you get pushed back till the "proper person" is back to handle the situation correctly, sad, but true.

Be patient, I am sure things will work out in the end.

Marco, if you are from Montreal... then what is your depot (because I am from Montreal and Purolator service is great from the Tees depot)?
Posted By: Micah Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/11/09 07:28 PM
Something tells me your Purolator driver is enjoying himself a very nice Axiom 5 channel system in his truck. Hey, can you blame him?
Posted By: CV Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/11/09 07:34 PM
I'll blame anything that moves.

The Ville St-Pierre depot.

I'm supposed to call Purolator on Monday at around 7am to get an update; until then, I hope whoever is causing this is having fun with the Axiom \:D
Once I receive them, the driver is not going anywhere until I've done a proper and thorough inspection.
Posted By: EFalardeau Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/11/09 09:11 PM
Good luck! Those screw-ups are truly agravating.
Posted By: Marco Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/13/09 02:08 PM
Well it's Monday and I still have no idea if I'll receive my packages today. "It says that it's on the truck, so you should get it today"... despite explaining that I've been told that twice already and twice Purolator failed to deliver.

Better yet, no word about the inquiry that I was promised would be performed. This whole deal about calling back on Monday turned out to be a farce; they are still as clueless and unwilling to help.

I was all excited this morning when I heard a truck engine shut down in front of the building, only to find out it's DHL and not Purolator \:\(
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/13/09 02:29 PM
It will be there around noonish. \:\) A little before or after is my guess.
Posted By: Marco Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/13/09 05:18 PM
You're right, the tracker updated to say that the truck came by at 12:30! But there was no one! ... wait what? WHAT?

I just finished yelling on the phone at Purolator, turns out that the driver didn't follow the instructions I gave (for reference: I called them this morning and they repeated them to me word by word to make sure) and didn't even bother ringing my apartment.

So off he goes on his merry way. So now he's coming back tomorrow between 10 and 12. I can't wait to find out how they'll mess up this time \:D

I'm going to email Axiom and ask them to pressure Purolator into doing their job right, this is just plain ridiculous.
Oh there's only one way to discribe this kind of service but I'd probably be breaking some forums rules if I said them outloud. Hang in there Marco.

Marco,

I have had the Purolator driver in my area come to my house twice in one day. He dropped off the "coffin" for my xbox360. I then packed the 360 in the shipping box called purolator and the driver came back a few hours later to pick it back up and delived it to the Microsoft repair centre all in the same day.

Call them again and see if the driver can come back (if he is still in the area), otherwise ask if you can pick up the speakers in person.
Posted By: Marco Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/13/09 05:51 PM
Oh, I did ask if the driver could came again. That's a definite no. If it wasn't such a troublesome ordeal (one hour via bus and metro and around 70kg to carry myself) I would have gone to fetch my speakers Friday.

Wow! You realy hit the Jerk Pot!
Leave your door open and hire the neigboors to keep watch!

I say set up a road block tomorrow complete with tire flat strips and perhaps a SWAT team to boot. This drver just DOES NOT want to give up his new 5.1 truck stereo system!
Posted By: Marco Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/13/09 11:24 PM
Well look at that! After receiving a reply from Noreen saying that Purolator had been contacted about the problem, a truck comes by and drops off my speakers!

The boxes though are in a terrible state. They are all covered in a thick layer of dust and grim, every single one has rips (one of the M60 boxes had a good chunk ripped out, including some of the foam protection inside). Thankfully, the speaker themselves are in perfect condition.

Now to enjoy some sound!... ah, I forgot to buy the wires

Great news!

The first time I heard someone refer to a deliver company as Purolator, I thought they were joking, or having a play on the actual name.

Are their competitors chopolator, mixolator, and liquefiolator?

You tease!
Please tell me that Purolator is not the exclusive shipper for axiom. I just ordered some M2's,Qs4's and a VP100 today. These guys are the worst, i have never had a good experience with them. If someone is not home when they come its usually a 3 day ordeal to track your stuff down. Good to know Noreen is on top of them like she is. Glad to hear you ended up getting you speaks deleivered in the end. Surely doesnt sound like i would want to cross Noreen
BTW im am so looking forward to my shipment. I have been using a 5.1 from a HTIB from panasonic. Upgraditis is goin to be the death of my Visa

Noreen has been rumoured to have broken a few Purolator knee-caps over the years.

Hello Socketman,

My guess would be if you live in Canada, Purolator will be used otherwise I suspect it would be Fedex. I believe Axiom uses both of these shipping companies.

Congrats on your purchase!
Posted By: Micah Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/14/09 03:48 AM
I wonder, can you pick who delivers them? I would think if you called Axiom and said I want to order so and so, and I want you to ship it FEDEX and NOT Purolator, they would give you that choice wouldn't they?
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Purolator - always this incompetent? - 07/14/09 03:52 AM
I don't know. I would speculate that Purolator would have better rates for shipping items within Canada. Just a guess on my part.

Actually, i almost had a flat screen tv shipped from ontario, and DHL had the best rates, though they really dont have a great rep ,i had some wheels shipped and they were great to deal with. DHL = Drop Hit Lose

Now purolator came to my house when i wasnt home. I called the number on their door knocker card and the woman said to me my parcel was back in prince george BC. Now i live in Whitehorse YT and i can tell ya there is no way it got from whitehorse to Prince George in 1 hour(1200 miles). The lady actually thought PG was just up the highway LOL.
To be fair , they now have a pickup depot thats open till 8pm.So i am sure i will at the least be able to pick them up, i sure hope so cause i hates waitin for my toys \:D

I've got to say my speakers were delivered in the U.S. by Purolator. They were on time and the the driver was very helpful and courteous. Also the boxes were in perfect shape, in fact the boxes were in better shape than the speakers inside them.
They know hot to hit a box so it doesn't bruise.

Are you trying to say that Purolator hits the boxes only because they love them? \:D

The best experiences I've had were with DHL and FedEx. Both have always been fast, courteous and reliable. USP... not so much, but not as bad as Purolator either.
Well, let's just say that no one else will love that box the way they do. And this time, they're really gonna change.
