I am ready to take the plunge with Axiom speakers after recently auditioning some M60s. Here is what I am looking to purchase: (2) M60, VP150v3, EP350v3, and (2) M3v3. I do not have the correct setup ($ for stands and interior structure of condo) to utilize the QS8s, so I must stick with bookshelves. I am questioning whether to go with the M3v3s or make the switch to the M22. Any suggestions? I will have a new receiver by Yamaha (RX-A2000) pushing the speakers.
you don't have walls that you can mount a Qs8 and run a wire up the wall?
Well not really. I am currently in a rented space, so I am trying to avoid putting holes in the walls. Plus, the wall to my back and left side are cinder-block. To my right coming off the ceiling, which acts a boarder between my living room and dining area, is the air venting system. So I would have to mount the QS8s to the duct-work.

If you do decide you can't utilize the QS8s (some customers use soup cans or similar supports to place QS8s on open shelves or side tables; the cans elevate the QS8 bottom woofer high enough from the surface beneath to be effective), then the Axiom M2s are a closer tonal match to the M60s than the M3s are. You don't really need the M22s for surround duties unless you have a really large room. Like the M2s, the M22s are a closer tonal match to the M60s.
Admittedly, the soup-can/QS8 approach won't win any interior-design awards, but there may be more elegant approaches. . .

If you mount the qs8 on a wall how far does it have to be from the ceiling? I want to mount mine on the wall part of a soffit and am wondering if I can use the mount that comes with it or do I need to buy the other one?
DJ, there's no critical distance, but at least a few inches of room for the upper mid-woofer to radiate should be allowed.
2-3" of clearance is all you relly need, more is better IMO, but you can get by with that minimum. The 'T' bracket the Q's come with are all you should need as that mounts them flush to the wall.
OK The soffit height is 9 1/2 inches. Do you know the dimensions of the T bracket? With the qs8 8.25 inches tall that means some of the speaker will hang down below the bottom of the soffit. Will that be ok or should I just get the other wall brackets? I wish I knew how to post pictures?

Little known fact... the Axiom QS8 stand design was based on the soup can solution, but with really tall cans and a much more secure mounting mechanism

In re: QS8, here's my suggestion: Buy the M2 for now. Set 'em up. Love 'em. If, later, you move into that new house down South like you were talking about and you ever want to upgrade to 7.1, then buy the QS8s.

Or you could move the M2s into a second room for a stereo set-up.
