ROXANNE
You don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets of money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne

I loved you since I knew you
I wouldn't talk down to you
I have you to tell just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy

I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again
It's a bad way

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)

No love for California.

Or the D.C. area.

road trip to NYC is our only option. Not going to happen for me, though.

They will be adding dates later on. They WILL come to California. Otherwise I'm going to have to choke someone. I can't wait to see this show.

I saw them in the early 1980's. The Fixx was the opening band. Good stuff.

The Police have been rehearsing in North Vancouver for the past couple of weeks. Looks like they will be here for a while before the tour starts. They have been spotted around town recently. A buddy of mine ran into Sting in a restaurant recently and chatted with him. Said he was very friendly. The last time I saw the Police was the Syncronicity tour many years ago...

They put on a really good show tonight in Edmonton. Stings voice was strong and clear and Stewart Copeland was terrific on the skins. They both had a ton of energy and got the crowd going. Andy Summers didn't look in the best of shape (my wife said he looked as if he was constipated for the first hour) but he can still play a pretty mean guitar. The venue was an outdoor stadium and the sound, lighting and stage were first rate. It was a wonderfully warm night and pretty much the entire crowd stood and swayed or danced for the full 2 hours.

Been about 5 years since I saw a big concert like that. It was a lot of fun.

I've kind of given up on "Big Concerts" - too pricey, too crappy, typically.

But The POLICE? Well, OK. Never, ever, thought I'd have the chance. I'm making the drive to Hartford CT and staying overnight. The wife is all a-tizzy, too, and I'm absolutely certain it's the music, not the remarkably well-preserved front man who used to grace her dorm-room walls, that's the cause. Absolutely certain.

lol. I'm totally with you on Arena concerts. That's why I got the cheap(er) lawn seats for when Rush is in my area later this month.

Yeah I've been a bit leary of the big events for much the same reasons as you. Adding to that, you never know when a group of old guys get together after 25 or 30 years if they still have the energy and will play up to your expectations. I knew Sting was still a pretty active performer but really knew nothing about Copeland or Summers post Police careers.

Tickets were priced at $225, $95 and $65. We went for mid-priced field level seats which put us about 75% back from the front (about the 50 yards line) and for my tastes they were perfect seats. Good sound and pleasantly loud. We walked up to the front section for the first 3 songs (see below) to see them up close and get into the party mood. Three songs was all the volume my ears could take.

If you are hoping to hear some material from Sting (and the others?) solo careers you'll be disappointed. They played strictly Police material. Here is the song list from their openning concert in Vancouver. It's nearly identical to last nights performance.

Message In A Bottle
Synchronicity II
Spirits in the Material World
Voices Inside My Head
When The World Is Running Down (You Make the Best of What’s Still Around)
