why are you posting the same question in multiple threads? this is not AVSforum.

WANTED TO GET AS MANY REPLIES AS POSSIBLE,, TO GET MANY ANSWERS TO THE QUSTION REGARDING TE EMOTIVA AMPS,... loosen up bro
Posted By: Ken.C Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 06:03 AM
Most of us read all of the forums. What SirQ is trying to say is that you don't need to post in multiple places--especially not the same question.

It's not about loosening up. This is a pretty small forum. Also, the caps lock thing? You're piling bad taste upon bad taste. Bro.
Posted By: terzaghi Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 02:13 PM
Maybe his capslock key is broken?
Posted By: SirQuack Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 02:43 PM
This is a small forum and we all check out all the forums, no need to duplicate your posts. By the way BRO, turn your caps off, that means your yelling, we are all adults around these parts, no teens welcome. \:\)
Just do a search for 'Emotiva' and you should find many threads.

This has been discussed a lot and I don't think there's a whole lot more that can really be said about the issue.

Posted By: SirQuack Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 03:34 PM
not a problem, having all caps on means your YELLING on forums and instant messanger and emails. no biggy.

Maybe you should get a new keyboard instead of a new amp \:\)

good one Tom. \:\) That Rotel he has should have no issues, heck both Ricks have the RB-1080 and we know how loud those guys play Stevie.
Posted By: RickF Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 04:53 PM
I'll trade him straight up, a perfectly good working three year old HP keyboard for that old junk amp ... even Steven.

My contribution to society.

I missed it.... The OP has a 1080, like single malt and is looking at Emotiva???

Uh, Arctikdeth, not to be rude, but were drinking when you posted the question? The 1080 is vastly superior to Emotiva. As with many other M80 owners, I used the 1080 with mine for a couple years and never whimpered once. They are now driving a set of speakers even more power hungry than the M80's.

So what's your favorite whisky anyway??? I'm a Highland Park fan. I just sadly finished off my last bottle of their 19 year old.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 06:20 PM
he has the 1090 to boot...that is better than the 1080.
Posted By: EFalardeau Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 06:28 PM
It is a 1080p or 1080i?
Posted By: michael_d Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 06:28 PM
The 1090!!!???

That makes this discussion even more pointless, which definitely points to the old shouldn't post and drink rule that many of us on this board have broken a time or two. I say cut the guy some slack and give him a friendly welcome.

A 1090…. I wish I had one of those….. Sonofabitch…. The Stereophile 1090 review. http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/100rotel/

My favorite single malt scotch is Lagavulin (16 year old). I prefer Islay region the best

Says the 1090 is clipping with his M80s Mike...

I am selling my rotel rb1090, as i keep clipping it, it runs out of power way to soon at 4 ohms, and it says it has 780 into 4 ohm and like 1.5 of headroom, so i dont see the full out 780 watts, as im clipping way to soon. does my pre-amp having 14v of gain make a difference..?

I had to search all over the boards to try and find which one of the danged EMOTIVA threads the OP had mentioned the 1090 clipping on him.

I've always wanted, built the cabinets for and intended to implement an RMB-1095 along with one of those RB-1090s for the power for our 7.1 system ... upper management has repeatedly shot that particular project down, I'm oppressed.

I lke some of the speyside malts,...but my fav is the Balvenie 25 yr. and 30 yr. very woodyw/ lots of moss. goes good with a good fish dinner!! Hail single malt!!!!!
Posted By: Arctikdeth Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 10:16 PM
I like many single malts

have still bottles in my closet.
2 bottles balvenie 25 yr.
a little lagavulin left maybe a couple sifters
1 bottle lophroaig 10 yr. little harsh to palette
several bottles of bowmore 17 yr.
1 bottle oban 21 yr.
3 bottles of clynelish 30 yr.

I get these when i go on our annual carribbean cruises at the duty free shops,...most of these bottles are well over 350 dollars here in chicago, but there about 75-100 at the small shops in st. thomas and St martiin. good buys.

anyway...........
as far as tyhe statement thta rotel is better, thats a bold statement. emotiva xpa-2 is a great amp, and much more musical than the rotel, despite the 200 less watts at 4 ohm load. im selling the rb-1090,..iots absolutely mint, been in the attic past 3 years as we remodeled, i just recently opened it back up for use...less than 300 hours on this beast..

Rusty do you have any issues with the RB-1090 other than the clipping that made you want to replace it? At least three us are running the RB-1080 with the M80s and so far as I know the other fellas have never had any issues regarding a lack of power, I certainly haven't ... I'm sure we've had our moments where the music got on the (very) loud side a time or two.
Posted By: Arctikdeth Re: EMOTIVA AMPLIFIERS AND AXIOM M-80s' - 12/05/08 11:14 PM

no just tyhe clipping., sound gets harsh as gravel and just protects. maybe its the remastered compression of some cds, i dont know>>??? dont get me wromg, I LOVED the rotel, was great, but with the remodel and havbing in storage, gave me time to look around, and i think i found some beauties, the xpa-1 mono blocks are just awesome looking,..and EVERY review ive read has been just pure gold! but i need to sell it to make room and have the cash for the xpa-1 mono. also there is no inpout limiter, and i hate to kep running to my curcuit breaker when 3 out of 4 times the damn hulk pops my breaker

I'm confused, if you're replacing an amp with another amp of equal wattage output, do you not think that you will still have problems with your breaker??

no the emotiva amps have inrush current limiters that aloow the current to chartge the capacitors at a slower rate thus thwarting the breaker popping.......
