I love vinyl, but it is a PITA. Remove vinyl from sleeve, place on turntable, place clamp, turn it on, clean record, listen, get up, etc. Best sound quality? Yes. PITA? Yes.
So, I picked up a Gold Note DS-10 music player DAC. Ethernet connection to router, Chord RCAs into Line Magnetic inputs.
Download controller to the tablet, select Tidal, sit back and enjoy the music!
So, we have a chance to save the world by sitting on the couch and listening to music. Don't screw it up!
Sounds really good! Just don't listen to vinyl first.
Just don't listen to vinyl first.
Don't think I'd have to worry about that ...
I gave up critical listening a long time ago.
Having done it in my 20's and 30's,
I just have a minimum standard
I gave up critical listening
when the listening got critical
now I am critical of any listening
that is done critically.
Generally easy going, occasionally critical. One sounds really good, the other better.
So, here's the little guy under the beautiful TASCAM 32-2 reel to reel:
They opened one of our golf practice ranges, so I finally got out and go to swing.
Just for poops and giggles, here are a few more 2 channel, stereo systems:
Vintage:
A mighty Yamaha M-80, Onkyo P304 preamp, Onkyo T9090 tuner, big Onkyo CD player, wonderful Dahlquist M905 speakers (I refinished them! - fun) and a little Velodyne DSP subwoofer. In the work out room. Does not get enough play.
And this is the room where I meditate to draft appellate briefs, not the kind you wrap around your head Tex!!
Denon DP 47f turntable with a nice AT moving magnet cartridge, Klipsch Forte speakers with Crites upgraded cross-over, and in the cabinet, all my CD and SACD players. Rotel RCD 991 vintage CD player best of the bunch) and of course, the Antique Sound Labs MG SI 15dt 8 wpc Single End Triode tube amplifier with Gold Lion KT88s, and a pair of unicorn dusted Telefunken smooth plate black diamond 12ax7s.
Sound is very nice.
phil, Are you a public or private attorney?
I always wrap an appellate brief around my medulla to appeal to my good senses.
Philip worked with Bruce Cutler on the Gotti case. They're now working on El Chapo.
Hi Mr. rriev
Civil, mostly litigation, appeals, some transactional.
Mr huh ...
I was just curious ... think I have my answer
Mr. Who?
I don't know your name, but I like posting with you.
Hello Rich
Are you quarantined?
Meaning ... am I staying home except when I need to go out for stuff ...
Yup.
Since I work from home, I'm used to having the place to myself 3 days a week (the other two my wife works at home). Now 4 of us are here and between them and stuff that needs to be done I have little time for work during the day ... my boss is very understanding since I'm self employed.
Philip, did you vaporize your plethora of M2s?
Hello Tex
4 are up, 4 will go up this weekend. I'm sure looking forward to hearing the all-M2OW surround speaker system! (fronts are LFR1100 Actives and there is a VP160 in there somewhere)
I picked up a few things for the main 2 channel system:
Gold Note DS-10 DAC/streamer
Isotek Aquarius power conditioner with a pair of Isotek Optimum power cables.
Sounds pretty good.
Like it. Like a pawn shop in there. Kidding. Cool setups.
Not a pawn shop, more like evidence of some mental/audio derangement.
But, it is cool and a better addiction than crack.
I haven't had a chance to set up the remaining 4 M2OWs, but I've been doing a lot of listening to the 2 channel system. Sounds pretty darn good!
The Gold Note DS10 streamer/DAC is much more convenient than vinyl and sounds great. I signed up for Qobuz but mostly listen to Tidal.
The Isotek Aquarius power conditioner with upgraded power cords has been a good addition. Bass seems better, noise floor lowered. The Harbeth 30.2s driven by the Line Magnetic 845 Premium sound great. The LM looks like it came from Dr. Frankenstein's lab with it's big tube array.
