What is better, 3 M22's with an EP350 or 3 M60's with an EP175?

M22s with an EP350.

Have you even received your speakers yet?

Gentlemen, we have a case of premature upgraditis!

I've heard neither but if I had to pick then I'd go M22 + EP350 because I like to watch movies and experience the 20hz and below LFE. If that didn't matter to me, or I'm only using them for music, then I'd go M60 + EP175.

The thing is that I am kinda worried about the noise the E350 is going to make. LOL Don't wanna hear the neighbors complaining. Since I listen to a lot of music I was wondering about this possibility.

The EP350 is going to make "a whole lot more" noise than the EP175. I know because I've tried both recently. I live in a house with plenty of separation from neighbors so I went with the EP350. If I was in an apartment, I would probably forgo the sub-woofer altogether.

I would agree, and that's why I will never go back to living in an apartment.

Mr. T pities the fool who moves into an apartment next to CV and his A1400-powered dual EP800s!

Soon to be (4) EP800s!

I have an EP350 in my apartment, and my neighbors have never complained. Of course, they both appear to be deaf.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: what's better? - 07/19/10 06:31 PM
Yeah, but were they deaf BEFORE you moved in? smile

Actually, one of them did tell us a long time ago that he was hard of hearing. The other (who lives directly above us), is merely one of the sweetest women in the world, who professes not to hear our kids screaming.

Bake that woman an occasional pie! smile

Mark, you forgot the Eric Cartman HTML tags.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: what's better? - 07/19/10 06:48 PM
I only reference Cartman when the word "Authority" comes up! smile

Eric Cartman vs. Ultraman - who'd win?
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: what's better? - 07/19/10 07:24 PM
Easy. Professor Chaos! He's an UltraMan-looking South Park character, so the strengths of each apply!

Posted By: Adrian Re: what's better? - 07/19/10 07:42 PM
Cartman would win because Ultraman isn't real.
Posted By: fredk Re: what's better? - 07/19/10 08:03 PM
Cartman would buy an EP800.

I would not bother pairing the M60s with an EP175. The 175 will not add that much. Better off going with the M22 EP350 combination and turn the bass down if the neighbours complain.

FYI I have an EP350 in my apartment that I play at reference. Then again, I do live in a concrete bunker.

Don't worry about it, the sub can be turned down if the neighbors complain, however you can not increase the capability of the EP175.

Ichigo, as Jay indicates, you're in control of the level of both the sub and speakers, and can adjust them to suit the circumstances.

Agreed that you may be better off with the EP350 because you can always turn it down it if it becomes too much. Better to have too much available and be able to crank it up when you call upon it and are able to than not having enough.

Are you sure those are M22s? Perhaps Sosuke Aizen used his zanpakuto on you causing to you believe they were mere bookshelves when in fact they were M60s... wink

I was wondering about returning the sub and getting 3 M60's or M80's for the front with no sub. Would it be that bad?

+1 for M22s with ep350
Posted By: CatBrat Re: what's better? - 07/21/10 01:49 PM
Just curious. What are your walls made of that the port on the back of the M22's are firing towards?

I am not sure if it is drywall or plywood.

No it wouldn't be that bad, but you wouldn't hear/feel the LFE channels in DVD/BR's. If you do decide to go this route I would suggest getting the M80's for the fullest range of playback possible. But going this route takes away the ability to adjust the amount of bass being played back easily(adjusting the bass tone controls will do this but you also lose midbass) where as with the EP350 you can simply turn the volume down on it.

Honestly, I think your current setup will be great for your small room once you learn your way around the receiver to get things dialed in!

Thanks guys for you support! I will have to wait for my M22 to be delivered to see how this set up will fulfill my room. I have gotten an e-mail from JC after I tried to send a message through Axiom website. I have been told that there was a mistake on Axiom and they shipped me 2 M22's only and that the other one is being shipped today! smile
