Wow, very nice, Brandon! I really like the look of your system and room. How do your DIY subs sound? Are they from a kit, or did you buy drivers and go from there?

The design for the subs is one that a couple forum members at Audioholics have been working on and then posted up. So far I am the first person to have completed building this exact design and am extremely happy with the subs. In my own listening they easily outperformed the EP600. Does that mean everyone should stop buying axiom subs and build their own? Well no. I put a tremendous amount of work into building these and I havent added up the total cost but I estimate it to be around $1600 for the pair. Although a few hundred of that is shipping costs for everything. And I did not realize it at first but all the little things like sandpaper, paint, hardware etc really add up as when I decided to build them I was only thinking maybe 1k for the pair.

Here is a link to my step by step build of these with lots o' pics.

The added low end from these though is well worth the cost. Even just for music. For movies its really nice. I watched the original pirates yesterday and had a goofy grin on my face half the time \:\)

Beautiful setup! Are those homemade bass traps on the wall above your TV? I've seen bass traps online similar to that. Way to go man!!

Not really bass traps as much as just acoustic panels to try and reduce the reflections in my room. I could definetly use more room treatments in here but just dont have the space to put more stuff up where it would work the best.

and yes I did build them myself, Following John Risch's design. Here's some more info on them if your intersted.

Love the write-up for the subs - looks like an awesome project with an awesome result. I wonder what the performance results would be with a slight decrease in cabinet volume... cause damn those things are big!

Yeah, It was funny, because when I brought the EP600 back up here to test them side by side, the EP600 really didnt look all that big anymore. I used to think to myself "i definetly dont want something that big" when I looked at the EP600..

Now its like I have two 3/4 size washing machines in my room.

The biggest downside to them is they are quite difficult to move. Not only because of the weight but their large akward size.

That is awesome... Read your build thread too. Good work. Looks great. Love the finish on the Axioms too.
