The new and the old...
Received the additional two telephone table to help make my back surround look a bit less ugly (and add some pretty necessary additional storage space for spare cables and all). Since this is the new galery, I also re-took some picture of the whole setup.
Please disregard dust as my xmas cleanup is scheduled for tomorrow... or sometime next week!

Methinks you do not have pets or small children... or live in earthquake territory!

Children or a big dog would be a problem, but it is actually very sturdy (a LOT more than before on the small stools that were not covering the whole base!).

Methinks you do not have pets ... Tribbles. They are quite gentle. I am guessing there is a reason why you can't/won't use ceiling mounts.

There is only one main reason for non using ceilling mounts: the studs in my ceiling are metal and would require just a little too much work than I'll willing to do! (I actually HAVE the ceiling mounts ). The tables are there more for an eventual move to M22 as back surrounds! So I am sort-of in an in-between situation, waiting to decide once and for all!

Studs or steel I-beams? Mayby you just need rare earth magnets to put the QS8s on the ceiling.

If only Monster Magnets (lawsuit pending) would build such magnets! Actually, since this in an appartment, I had decided not to pass wires in the ceiling (or walls) and, although I do not have WAF issues, even I am hesitant to have scotch-taped speaker cable to the white ceiling!

Methinks you do not have pets or small children... That was my first thought! An hour later I had a second thought . . . " pretty innovative".

Okay, I'll be the "bad guy" here...
I just don't like the way it looks. Here's my honest opinions, and you can throw them all out the window if you like, but these are my opinions from what I see:
1) An alcove of that size does not need 7.1. 2) If 7.1 is a must, then a couple of sheet metal screws to attach the rears to the metal studs in the ceiling is not that much work. 3) The rears, as situated now, is an accident waiting to happen.
It's not my cup of tea, but if you love it, then that is all that matters.
