I'm not sure about 635 but just wanted to make a point -- the value of converting is to let you run fewer cables from receiver to TV, so you can standardize on whatever your highest quality source is. You probably won't get much benefit if all you are doing is having the receiver convert from SVideo to Component.

Now, on the other hand, let's say you have a Composite signal from a VCR, an S-Video signal from an old DVD player and Component video from your HD satellite box. The receiver would let you convert them all to Component and run one (Component) cable to the TV.

Note that this doesn't always work because the On Screen Display isn't always displayed on Component outputs. I'm pretty sure my HK630 is one of the offenders, possibly your 635 as well.
