Chess, if you did that I suspect that I wouldn't notice the difference as being a level difference. Instead I would be greatly puzzled as to how my right speaker had been suddenly "upgraded", with better imaging, wider soundfield, deeper bass, more liquid highs, etc. so that it sounded like a speaker that cost 3-4 times as much.
