I finally sprang for a big TV. Went and picked up a JVC HD56FN97. It's a 56", 1080P, LCoS (JVC calls it HD-ILA), gi-normous box of love. The 1080P model was only a couple of bills over the normal one so I went ahead and got it. I figure I'm now future-proof for a few years anyway.

I'm looking at the HD-61FH97, and having a hard time deciding between it and the Samsung or Mistubishi DLP equivalents. I saw the JVC 56" at Best Buy recently and it was next to a Sam which was next to a Mits. Even though a different feed was going to each the JVC had the cleanest pic (IMO). I woul have liked to have seen the JVC with the same Mits 1080 demo feed (tropical garden) to make a true direct comparison. The thing that scares me about the JVC is the lamp life issue.

Please keep us informed on your set's performance.

Thanks,

Scott
