According to everything I've read on these forums, all of the systems you have been researching will do more than ample justice to your auditory senses.
Spend $400 on an integrated receiver, $300 on a DVD player, $100 on cables (including 12 guage speaker wire from Home Depot). This leaves you with $3200 to $4200 for your electro-acoustic transducers.
Buy as much speaker as you can afford. Speaker upgrades are very expensive and you never know where you may move next. It could be into a big home. Also speakers are the weakest link in the audio chain so make them as strong as you can possibly muster.
