Guitar Hero 1 is pretty bad to learn on...hammer ons are impossible. Once you get to the expert level, you need to use hammer ons to hit really fast notes...basically you hit the strum bar once and then you can press the fret buttons for many notes after that without having to press the strum bar. In GH1 it's really hard to hit any hammer ons. Start with GH2 and GH3...unless you like GH1 songs.
