Once you are done with the rather long, but detailed thread,
look at this link which gives you the only solution that 1) allows you to use PS2 codes to add to your programmable IR remote and 2) also gives you an on and off solution for your IR remote. For my MX-850 & MX-900, Remote Central has several files where I was able to download the commands for use, including discrete on and off commands.
