I haven't seen any TVs with the new 120Hz refresh rate so I can't help much with that. I've read some reports where people are saying it looks odd, but that may be because they are not used to it.
As for picure quality, I spent a lot of time at different stores just staring at the different brands and in some cases adjusting the TVs as I saw fit. I know everyone hates them, but I liked Sonys the best. Samsung and Sharp were just a step below. I didn't think the LGs were too bad, especially for the money.
