Bryan, as always, you should get a receiver with the features that you want at the best price that's within your budget. Applying that to the two units that you list, it would seem that the 3808 would be the clear choice, unless the 775 has some specific feature that you really want. Both notably have Audyssey MultEQ XT auto-calibration and room equalization; as to other features, the 3808 would, if anything, seem to be more fully-featured. The 3808 is readily available from authorized dealers such as J&R and 6thave for about $1100 delivered, while the 775 runs about twice as much. The 3808 would appear to be clearly the more cost-effective buy.
