2x6, you totally misinterpreted Alan's comment. The provision in receivers to set a lower impedance rating(to help prevent overheating and keep the UL happy)limits the voltage that the power supply section of the amplifier can output. Pursuant to Ohm's Law, when the voltage is limited, so is the current and power. The result is to cut the maximum power capability roughly in half, as lab tests have shown, therefore making clipping more likely. It's been consistently suggested here that the lower impedance setting never be used, despite the direction in the manual.
