My HT is in the basement. Ceilings aren't quite 8'. As I mentioned before, The HT is a portion of the room. Rear speakers would hang down and potentially bop someone in the head.
Floor stands wouldn't work either - just based on where the set-up is and , more importantly, would not meet wife-ready code (funny how often this code comes into practice
).
What I have now are very small Yamaha speakers from a HTiB that hang down from the ceiling. Although they sound like crap, they are not intrusive. QS4's would be too big (I think - see code mention above).
