For what it's worth, my new house was wired for 7.1 and I ended up not using ANY of the wiring, even though I picked all the locations. By the time the house was built I had kinda changed my mind
Home Depot has a nice cheap jacketed 12 ga wire (2 wires in a green jacket) that lies flat on the floor and seems to blend into the surroundings.

If I had to guess I would say that Denons are the most popular receiver on this forum, but as Randy (Sirquack) says pretty much any receiver will work well with the M60s. I have a Harman Kardon because the Denon manuals always raise my blood pressure too high, but as long as you burn the manual the receivers are first rate.
