Doug, welcome. The NR1602 is a typically fine modern HT receiver and has the advantage of Audyssey MultEQ. As to the power rating, at a typical home listening distance(more significant than room size)of about 10', 50 watts would be sufficient for a sound level on peaks with M22s of about 102dB(one speaker; both mains at the same level would be 105dB). This should be adequate. 100 watts would of course increase those maximum sound levels by 3dB.

If you don't have the 1602 now and are thinking of buying it, what are the points that attract you? It may be possible to suggest even more cost-effective possibilities that would fit your needs.
