Prom Concert 6 took place Wednesday evening. A new composition was given its premier to start the concert, and although there wasn't much of note, it wasn't unpleasant(as is much "modern" classical music)and lasted only about 12 minutes.

There followed an excellent performance of the very romantic Rachmaninoff 2d Piano Concerto, with a brief Gershwin/Earl Wild encore. Following intermission, the rather dark Prokofiev 6th symphony closed the concert.

Available for seven days on the BBC iPlayer site .
