Earlier this evening Prom Concert 27 took place. The first half was brief, with only the beautiful music Wagner composed as a Christmas/birthday present to his wife, the Siegfried Idyll(for their son Siegfried)being played. On Christmas morning Wagner had brought in a small group of musicians and she awoke to their playing.
Following intermission the brief first half was balanced by the massive Bruckner 8th Symphony, with a "heavenly length" flowing from the imagination of the humble and deeply religious Bruckner. Available for seven days at the
