Driving on the highway with a car full of friends early in the morning, heading east for a ski trip in Vermont. We left in a hurry so I didn't have time to change out the music (I guess it was cassettes back then ?) to include some music my friends would recognize. Went something like...
- some Tangerine Dream album
"that's putting me to sleep"
- Imaginary Voyage (Jean-Luc Ponty)
"don't you have anything with lyrics ?"
- Mister Heartbreak (Laurie Anderson)
Don't remember where we were, but just as the album was starting we came over a ridge and could see the sun just starting to come up. First song on the album was "Sharkey's Day" and the lyrics start with:
"Sun's coming up. like a big bald head. poking up over the grocery store. it's sharkey's day. it's sharkey's day today."
We were up pretty late the night before so everyone was a bit groggy -- one friend turns to me and asks "how the ^@$%?? did you do that ?" (ie make the car stereo say "sun's coming up" just as we drove over the ridge and saw the sunrise).
You had to be there, I guess...
