That (or 3 VP100s) does seem to have some potential. I'm still kicking myself 'cause I briefly had two VP100s in my possession but didn't have time to test them as mains.

Only concern would be that the centers are not ported so you would probably need ~100 Hz crossover or higher. Again, don't go buy 'em on my say-so and don't be offended if the nice Axiom people snicker when you ask ("you've been talking to those wackos on the forum, haven't you ?") but that might be the best option if you really need horizontal mounting.

If the room is reasonably small, though, you might be better with vertical M2s.
