Big Dilemma – Is DLP cleaner than LCD Panels ?

I recently sold my widescreen Sony CRT monitor and got the 37 inch Sharp LCD monitor. I calibrated my new LCD panel using AVIA disk and now am in a two minds if buying the LCD was the right decision.
Here are some of my issues:
1) I knew the picture quality of the LCD would not compare up to the CRT but the LCD panel doesn’t give the good detail for HDTV. I love watching sports (big Sox fan) but on this set the detail is completely lacking compared to my CRT
2) DVD image is acceptable but the reds are very predominant on the Sharp’s.
Now this brings me to final question does DLP offer a crisper image than the LCD panels? I’m looking for a TV that will be good for both HDTV and DVD plus doesn’t weigh a ton.
My viewing distance is about 120 inches and the room in question is about 18 feet X 14 feet.

In my oppinion. 100% yes, DLP is much cleaner and crisp. I have both a LCD HDTV and a DLP HDTV and my DLP blows the LCD out of the water. The dlp is so sharp, bright, and clear that it almost hurts my eyes to watch. lol.
But yes, in my oppinion, DLP is far superior to LCD when it comes to HD.

I'm glad you guys are not talking about Front Projectors, otherwise I may have to throw in your towel.

I've been searching almost a year to find the best solution and my advice is : Don't loose your time with LCDs and DLPs and buy a good Plasma instead.
I have the Panasonic 42PX50U and it's IMO the best 'affordable' TV on the market. This Plasma is great for TV (HD and SD.), DVDs and Game consoles.

I beg to differ. I can't tell you how many times people tell me how the image my Sanyo Z2 displays looks better than their plasma. That is comparing a 42"+ plasma to my 10ft wide 2.35 screen. Nothing beats HD at around 125+ or higher diagonal.

I have to agree. My father-in-law just bought the following Toshiba DLP TV. It is amazing.

Kind of makes me want to throw in the towel on my home theater and go to his place to watch movies (which is exactly what he intended). Note to older generation on the "how to get your family to visit more often".

I find my Sony 50" A10 LCD rear projection quite crisp and clear. I thought it's PQ was better than the Samsung/Toshiba DLP's. However, I think HP/Mitsubishi have the best DLP's and look better than the Sony A10. But the HP didn't fit and the Mits was $3500.. I got my TV for $2450 including a 5yr warranty.
I think the Sony LCOS screens are even better still, but they are first generation and don't do 1080p over any inputs.

Put me in the DLP camp. I have the Toshiba 52HM84 and I couldn't be happier. I had a real problem with the "screendoor" effect when I was looking at the LCD's.
