Hi
I'm about to set up my surroundspeakers (QS8) and rearspeakers (M2ti). But what height would be preferable? How close to the ceiling could I mount the QS8s?
I bought the FMB to mount the rears and thought there was a mountingplate on the M2ti but no such luck. Then the instructions for the FMB tells me to go to http://www.axiomaudio.com/FMB.html to see where Axiom suggests placing the screws on the specific speaker but it's just the same generic info. And in the middle of the speaker, where I would place the screws, there already is a screw. Is it safe to remove this or is it holding something inside the speaker?

That screw in the middle of the speaker is what you use to attach the speaker to the FMB. Did you see step 2 on the page you mentioned?

Dennis, what ya gotta do is quickly make a post that says "DIBS." so that all those fast typists don't get their answer in there before you do.
Guys, unless I misunderstand Mickey's question (and of course that NEVER happens ), he's looking for the exact place on the M2s he is supposed to attach the FMB, i.e. how many inches from the sides, and how many inches from the top and bottom. I don't think #2 tells him that. Unfortunately, neither can I. However, my guess is that it should be centered right to left and as close to the center vertically as you can get. If you REALLY want to be sure, call Axiom, toll free (1-866-244-8796). They'll be glad to help you.

#2 tells him how to use the mounting bolt that came with his M2s.

Got it now. Thanks Peter. Yeah, that screw in the middle of the M2 is for mounting the FMB.

That mounting page used to have drilling instructions, before we started including the bolts on the speakers. We should likely remove that instruction from the manual.

Thanks. Sorry, I actually had that thought for a second but didn't think that one bolt would be able to keep the speaker from tilting.
And when you tell me, I actually understand the step 2-picture. But I saw the two pictures in step 2 as one picture (4 screws AND a bolt in the middle, not 4 screws OR a bolt in the middle as it should be). Maybe Axiom should make this a little clearer or maybe it's just me reading to fast.
I can see that the mix of questions in my first post could be misinterpreted so to clarify my first questions:
How high up on the wall should I ideally place the surrounds?
How high up on the wall should I ideally place the rears?
How much space do the QS8 at least need between the ceiling and the top of the speaker?

From the Axiom FAQ:
"Where should I place my surround speakers?
Ideally, surround speakers should be either wall-mounted or stand-mounted to either side of the couch or primary listening area, from one to six feet higher than seated listeners' ears, and slightly forward or rearwards of the listening area if you wish. Axiom's Quadpolar surrounds are especially versatile and can yield excellent performance with stand or wall-mounting to the rear as well as at side locations. (see our dedicated stands for the QS Surround speakers in the Store). Rear center speakers for 6.1 and 7.1 installations are intended to go on the rear wall at about the same height as the surround speakers."

Yes, I saw that one and it answers the question of the best height for the surrounds but not for the rears and it doesn't say how close to the ceiling the QS8 can be mounted. But thanks for your effort, anyway.
