First post here and I can say I'm very glad I've found this site. About a month ago I started upgrading my 5yr old "home theater"
The fist piece was upgrading my 53" Panasonic RPCRT to a 56" Samsung 1080P DLP. After a month with the TV I absolutely love it.
The second piece was the receiver. Again 5yr old JVR RX-8000V receiver has been replaced with a Pioneer VSX-74TXvi. It's only been in place since Friday night, but so far so good.
The last piece is what brought me here...the speakers. After a 5yr HT hiatus I must say I was completely lost as to what was current/good in the speaker world. After demo'ing the Polks, CVs, Klipschs of the world I wasn't overly impressed. So after much research I decided to bite the bullet on the internet direct speakers.
I ordered 2 MT60s, a VP150, and 2 QS4s and they should arrive this wednesday. I'm hoping all the people on this board, avs, audioholics, etc are correct. I was hard pressed to find a bad review and with the 30 day in home trial I figured I couldn't go wrong.
Thanks to everyone on this board for helping me in my new speaker purchase.

I'm betting you will be more than happy with your purchase. Let us know what you think once you are setup.

We should have an IL axiom listening party.
I still need to go around and listen how m60's and m80's sound.

I'm checking Fedex tracking every few hours
They are still in Canada as of the last check. Now the new subwoofer research begins...

I did the same thing, kept checking every few hours, Fedex has a habit of downloading their tracking later in the evening. My sub was actually left at my door and I didn't know it was there for several hours.

Unfortunately I'm not sure the EP350 fits in my budget. I have a relatively small area to cover. 15*15*8 is the actually viewing area. The whole room is closer to 40*15. I've narrowed my choices down to an SVS PB12-ISD or Velodyne DLS-4000R. I'm nearly positive it will be the SVS but I guess strong opinions either way could change my mind.
Anything will be an improvement over the JBL PB12 I currently have.

Don't the SVS and the 350 from the outlet run about the same price? Don't think you can go wrong either way.

That's exactly the decision I was debating: EP350 vs SVS PB12-ISD and in the end I think I'll go Axiom all the way. Anyway if I buy everything through the F.O. then I'll save $80.

Huge Cubs fan unfortunately, with the health of the pitching staff right now 80 wins might be a stretch.

Folied FedEx delivery exception. I guess it's a good thing they wouldn't leave them outside my house all day. Hopefully they make it back to fedex today so I can pick up after work! How big are these boxes? Will they fit in a Durango?

All the speakers will be double boxed with great protection. The M60 boxes will be huge, but everything should fit in your Durango if you put the back seat down. If you follow the unpackaging steps on the ends of the boxes, you can salvage the boxes in the rare event you have to send them back to Axiom. All my other speaker boxes fit inside my M60 boxes. The EP500 box was huge also..

Ok guys/gals. I picked up all the equipment from my local fedex office after work on Wednesday. The triple boxing really adds up but everything did fit into my truck. About 20 minutes after I got home, my stomach wasn't feeling so well.
Fast forward to Saturday am and I'm finally able to eat. Turns out I came down with the stomach flu. I spent 2 days between my couch and the bathroom with these big boxes just staring at me.
Everything is now hooked up and sounds very nice. I only listened to a few songs in 2 channel and bits and pieces of some HD movies I had on my Tivo. I'm very pleased right now. I will definitely adds more thoughts once I really get these babies humming.
Now I need to fill in the missing piece - the sub! The size of my viewing area is about 15*15*8, the whole room is closer to 30 long. I'm really limited by how big of a sub I can fit.
Right now I'm looking at an SVS PB-12ISD(biggest footprint I can handle), HSU VTF-2MK , Velodyne DLS-R4000. The last model would be an SVS 25-31 PCI. The cylinder would fit nicely in the corner behind my l-shape sectional.
Any thoughts on which way to go? Velodyne has so many models just digesting their site is a project.

Chicago TC...2 things
1) Did you have to pick up the speakers, I don't have easy access to a truck
2) Kerry Wood, already your prognosis is starting to come true... Thanks, Guy

My room is close to the sixe of yours. My EP500 sounds great in it.
Sorry about your discomforts, but glad you are up and running (no pun intended).

Gharf,
I believe Axiom requires the delivery signatures which is probably a good thing as I didn't want $1800 worth of equipment sitting outside all day in the cold. I know I have a signature release on file with them, but I believe shippers can override this.

Would the 20-39PCi fit into the room (same width as 25-31 but might be too tall to hide). The 25 Hz tune used to be great for movies but every year there is more good stuff down below 20 Hz and you will miss some of that with any of the subs you mentioned. Of the three you mentioned, the PB12-ISD seems like the way to go...

After talking to Tom as SVS about room specs, viewing habits, etc I went with a 25-31PCI tuned to 22hz. It will be here tommorow. In the meantime I have pictures and info on my website. The pics are hard to take due to no natural light down in the basement.

Hey ChicagoTC,
I took a look at your site. Some of those images look familiar from another forum members site, but I can't remember who?
Nice job, enjoy the setup and theater!

Not a problem. Half the internet is "stolen/borrowed". I noticed the dolby/dts/axiom logos right off. I had found those and tweaked the axiom for the black background, but I certainly don't own them. Thanks to Axiom for letting us use the logo on our sites.
Now I feel bad that I said anything, you did nothing wrong. Enjoy the new HT room.

Don't feel bad I should have asked first. I searched for some images and noticed yours must have been tweaked. They looked great, nice work. Feel free to steal the pictures of my boat on the same website
