Our bonus room is on the large side and was wondering which one of these units would power up and sound the best with the 60's and the qs 8's?

Hey OVF...I would say that either is sufficient, as to it's driving capabilities. Both are rated very well, from CNET. Both are around the same price point. Each has it's pro's (Pio. with easy set up, Denon with it's multiple surround modes).
If it were me, I would probably go with the Denon...but, when I chose, I went with an HK AVR-7300.
Don't know if that helps much...but I would say that either is a sufficient piece. Maybe others might shed some light, here.
Good luck with the decision.

No, Vol, deck is pretty much right on and there's not too much more that can be said. As with all well-designed modern amplifiers, within their power limits they amplify transparently and have no "sound" of their own. The limits of those two units are close enough to each other so that they can be viewed as identical in that regard. Choose on the basis of features, price and even appearance.

If you can still get at this price, I would go with Denon Link

And if you decide to go with the 1015 this is a good source.

Or you could wait a little while and go with the 1016 when it comes out as it has HDMI switching... Pioneer 1016

As the others have mentioned, either machine would do a great job. I have the 2805 in a very large room and it does a great job driving my 60's 150 500 and 4 qs8's.

The zoom on the JR site does not appear to be working, can anyone answer me as to whether the 1016 has a phono input? It doesn't look like it nor do i see it mentioned in the specs.
OneVolFan, you also may wish to look at the Yamaha line of receivers, the new HTR line has been released, the new HTR-5960 has a pretty impressive option set considering the cost. Also lots of older models, including the RX-V1500 that are on their way out so could probably be had cheap.

Since I have the 1015 and it has no phono input I can only assume that the 1016 also has no phono input.
