I have a slightly larger room with the M80s-really I think it is all up to how much power your amp provides. I haven't found them to be overkill. Turns out that most modern AVRs have a 'volume' control.

Seriously though, I know the M80s at lower volumes sound really nice just like they do at higher volumes. Oh wait, I need to sound smart. By volumes I mean SPLs.

If you research my posts you'll find that I had the same issue. The only thing that will be overkill is the sub. I have the EP500 and I have it turned almost all the way down. It still shakes the house when Bruce Willis blows things up. I would probably have been happy with a smaller sub. BUT I know that if I move my theater into a larger room I won't have to upgrade later. Buy once, right?
