Or you could get them from monoprice.com for US$4/apiece for a 12 foot dual cable. Those are the premium ones, complete with the tight connector just like you get on the overpriced cables.

Yes wheelz, there's no good reason to spend anything like $40 for just wires to connect your 3801 to a separate amp.

For fun last night, I bought 4 RCA terminals and a spool of magnet wire so I could make my own interconnect. It's 5 feet long absolutely no shielding and sounds great. I'm listening to Miles Davis right now. I've been listening for about 4 hours trying to hear a problem with this silly thing. The RCA's are Neutrik and they cost a $1.30 each. If you have never soldered before it is really easy.

Lampy, congratulations on your successful experiment. Your name may well join others such as Mick Loney as a hero in the wire wars.

Wheelz, i may be a little late to help you with your problem and i apologize as i haven't been on the forum in two weeks. One suggestion i would make is to try discount-bin retailer Princess Auto if you live in a reasonably large urban area. I have often found them to have a number of "old model" audio and video connects of good quality for dirt cheap. I think my last purchase there was a 6 foot HDMI for $10. The stores are usually a bit of a mess though so you may have to wade through a large amount of junk before finding what you are looking for.

Good idea Sid. I noticed those branded cables in there for $10 and less, and as hyped and expensive as they are retail, it's still a good cable for this price.
