Anybody ever compared M80s with RS1000 specially when they are on sale for about the same price?

Not sure if you noticed, but to get that price on the Rockets you have to order a 3rd speaker(center channel etc.).

I know a few on here have Rockets. I will let them answer. I know that rosewood on the Rockets is awfully nice to look at though, hard to pass up for that price, as long as you need/want an extra speaker.

One of the reasons why I discounted Rockets when I was looking was the finish. It just didn't suit our decor. Also remember that you have to add shipping.

I was just coming back to add the fact that shipping is included with the Axioms, so the prices are still quite different.

I'm more interested in understanding the sound quality of both. I read somewhere that they both sound very different but somebody who has heard them both can tell better. As for myself I haven't heard either one.

No, I did not. Even if they sounded awesome, I simply would not have been able to fit them into our decor.

But I would like to listen to them. I'd like to be able to listen to all the speakers in the world \:\) .

Vaguely inflammatory.

As Mojo astutely points out, there are other factors besides subjective listening satisfaction and price to consider. While not everyone attributes the same weight to these elements, many people assign value relative to customer service, country of manufacture or aesthetic appeal, among others.

I had the pleasure of hearing several Rocket models. I thought they sounded very nice in the context I experienced them. I also remain satisfied with my Axioms.

Your system. Your content. Your ears. Your room. There is no substitute.

Tom,

You're right. When I first started exploring internet direct, I considered the Rockets but the decor was the biggest stumbling block. At that time, I didn't know about Axiom. As I conducted more research, other considerations came to mind and, via an extremely complex and sophisticated algorithm which for the life of me I can't remember \:\) , I decided to try Axioms. BTW, the excellent boards here didn't factor at all into my decision. I became a board junkie after my audio spirit was awakened.

Hey, same here. I didn't really look at the boards until after my purchase. I'm really glad I had questions.
