If you recall a while back (October) I ran speaker wires in my new home. We'll we finally moved in and I am trying to get everything setup. A couple of questions.
1. It was suggested at the time that I run coax for the sub line. I did that, and now I have a coax plate on the wall. I need a cable or adapter that I can convert the coax connection to the one used for the sub. Home depot didn't think such a thing existed, but I'm sure there is a way to do this, as multiple people on here recommended it as a solution.
2. I need a wall plate on the front wall to terminate the connections for the rear speakers and the sub. I'll need another converter for the sub connection, the rear speakers I assume will connect into the back of the wall plate, and have another connection on the front of the wall plate to hook up speaker wire from there to the speakers. Any help on how this part would work would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to see what I can dig up online too.

Are you using high-voltage posts for your sub (speaker posts)? If not, then you are using an RCA connector to a coax cable. Depending on the type of connector you have out of your wall (RCA or "cable"-style?), you may need a simple adapter that should be fairly easy to find.
If you are using high-voltage posts for your sub, then coax was not a good move for now (altough it will eventually be as you upgrade equipment).

Should be a regular RCA connector. Sub is a HSU VTF-2.
The connector comming out of the wall is a Coax cable style connector. So I need to go from the coax connector coming out of the wall to the RCA connector for the sub, and I need two of them, one for each end.

Thanks for the link. I'll have to see if I can dig those up on another site. They are out of stock until 3/18. I don't want to wait that long to have a work sub again if I can avoid it. Wait a minute, as I take a closer look I don't think this is the link to the right part. What I need is a F type Male to RCA Female It's like a cable outlet coming out of the wall, since they have already put a plate on it, so I need a F type male to go into that, and an RCA female coming out, so I can hook up the sub cable. Two of those and I should be good. The good news is that the part I found is in stock, so I should be all set. Now I just need the faceplate for the front and a hookup for the coax and two rear speakers coming out of the plate.

I had used the other ones to convert a regular RG-6 cable to a sub cable. Worked great. I was so fixated on MY solution that I messed up the gozintas and gozoutas on Zarak's circumstance. Those kinds of mistakes are less troubling when mail order isn't involved.

Never run into those two before. No wonder you had trouble! Thanks again. Just placed the order. I'll see if I can find the rest at home depot, since I need to make a trip anyway.

No luck at home depot today. The box I used to run the wires to is of the wider variety. They only had the single size face plates with connectors attached. Also, according to the directions, the speaker wire in the wall needs to be soldered onto the back and then there are connectors on the front to put the wire into that runs to the speakers. Not having a soldering gun, I would prefer a solution where I don't need to solder.
For the cable connection for the sub, I guess the wire will have to attach in the back somehow, and then coming out I'm ok with that one.
Since I had no luck at home depot, I am going to look online and see what I can find. The only thing that might work at home depot are blank plates, but then you have to put what you need in each spot somehow. I'm not sure how this would work.
Thanks again for the help.

You could try Impact Acoustics. I've never bought anything from them, but they seem to have a large (if pricey) selection of bits and pieces.

I've got a bunch of those Leviton keystone plates with different modules in them (speaker terminals, Cat5, phone jack, etc.). They work good, but seem pretty expensive.

I use the Leviton keystones myself. For my two wall plates.

Once you go modular, you never go back. Someday I'll start.

This one from Channel Vision might be overkill, since I don't need the center, left and right fronts. I'm not using the 2nd sub or the back speakers currently, but those don't hurt to have for expansion It looks like if an end gets put onto my coax run for the sub, I would not even need the adapter, as it is built in. Or maybe this one from Monoprice

Found one from Parts Express too. I have to confirm that this and the monoprice one accept 12 AWG. I'll pick one of the three tomorrow once I here back.

Jason, just saw this, but I'll just point out that if the 12ga is too big to fit easily, enough strands can be trimmed off the very end so that it will fit. This doesn't change the overall resistance of the entire length of the wire appreciably.

Here is the part you need. Folks here just recently helped me through the same thing. Male F to Female RCA Since I was starting from scratch, I went a just a tiny bit cleaner by using hex wall plates with this insert so it is coax inside the wall with an RCA wall plate. Here is the insert. F to RCA wall plate adapter. In fact, Parts Express shipped very fast and I spent an hour last night putting all my wall plates together.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

I also bought this 7.1 Channel Wall Plate for the wiring closet area. It looked pretty nice once I screwed in all the included jacks. I bought an extra 6 hole face plate and some extra F to RCA inserts to terminate the rest of my subwoofer positions.

It looks like thing things I ordered shipped yesterday, so I should be able to finish setup soon. I just got the front and center speakers hooked up this morning, but need the parts for the surrounds and sub. I'm going to wall mount surrounds today probably.

I finally got everything setup. One of the parts wasn't right, but that showed up yesterday. We watched about an hour of American Gangster last night (my wife got tired, so we are going to finish tonight), and it sounded pretty good. I can tell I'm in a different room. The speaker location for the fronts is better, as one was in the corner pretty much before. I also have a more lively room now, since the floor is hard wood, although we do have an area rug in the room as well.
Thanks for everyone's help. Now I just need my dimmer switch for the lights and I'm all set!
