I've been sitting on my Axioms for a couple weeks now as the contractors do their thing. The custom bookshelfs just went in and much to my chagrin, the contractors built the fixed shelves 1.5 inches too close together to house my M3s.

Just about died today when I tried to put one in to see how ti looked and the darn things don't fit. Don't want the delays of having these guys rip it all out and start again so I'm wondering if this forum can shed some light on what's going to happen when I place them on their sides in the shelving.

Anybody done some tests to see the impacts of doing so, blv i read you want to face the tweeters in but not much else. One issue is see is that since the boxes are not square the speakers point upwards in the cabinet. Should be able to remedy this with some strategically placed rubber feet.

Looking for some helpful feedback!!!!

Well, I'd hate to be the one to tell you but you've already compromised their sonic characteristics by placing them in a cabinet. So, orienting them side-ways probably won't matter much. I'm not a fan of enclosing speakers in cabinets, ceilings or walls.

You may want to experiment with tweeters in or out to see what sounds best.

WARNING: Do NOT actually remove the tweeters from the speaker housing!

Randy, when the speakers are placed on their sides, the superior horizontal dispersion they have when placed vertically is replaced by the more uneven and narrow vertical dispersion pattern. Avoid, if possible.

ditto what the other have stated. why by nice speakers if your not going to use them as designed? For starters putting them within a shelf unit is not ideal and will restrict sound performance. If possible, I would look at other options.

Try your idea with the speakers on sides with the backs propped.

You may find, like I did, that it works just find.

Your ears will tell you if something is wrong.
