Can't sleep. Going to call Axiom in the morning and order a pair of M22ti's in Boston Cherry. Thanks to free shipping, I'm going to order my Axiom setup piece by piece as my budget allows. On Axiom's advice I am starting with the M22's as my front surround/stereo, then will continue with the VP150, then two QS8s, then a sub, (maybe a Hsu here?), then one last QS8 for rear center. I can't wait. I am used to the no name speakers I have now and I'm hoping to be duly impressed by some actual quality sounds!

And get this: wife and kids are leaving for a trip on Thursday so I'm going to take the afternoon off Friday to receive the speakers and set them up and then spend the weekend basking in them. I can't wait. I only wish it were an entire 6 channel set.

Walt

Cool. another hawaiian around here. actually i think i might be the only one. beseides you.

For us, the free shipping really is a good deal, i bought the M80's and if i were to pay shipping it probbly would have cost me i think around 300 bucks. Enjoy your speakers, im on the big island btw.

Walt, congrats for your impending Axiom order! But if it were me, I would get a good sub next, or even right now! -- with an M22/Hsu (or SVS) 2.1 combo, you will surely go through the entire CD collection of yours with a renewed shock and awe!

Didn't know that the free shipping applied to Hawaii, too, Brandon... I have to say that Axiom is indeed very generous that the free shipping isn't restricted to the contiguous Canada/US states.

Walt,

I have to agree with Sushi that you should order a sub next. I own the M22's (along with the VP150, QS8's and a sub), and you really need a sub to help the M22's with the low end. The M22's have nice tight bass, but when you add a sub into the mix, the sound just fills in so much better and the M22's really come to life.

You can run a phantom center until you get the VP150, so that could probably be last in the purchases. The QS8's will add quite a bit to your system as well, so I would purchase those after the sub. Good luck.

Regulars here won't be surprised at this comment...

Hsu VTF-2...add one of these to your M22ti's and you'll be in audio heaven.

Woo hoo! Ordered and on their way! Should be here tomorrow afternoon. Nothing like a group like this to hyper you into a frenzy. Now there's two of us in Hawaii. I was surfing this morning and 2 Fedex planes flew overhead... I have it bad!

So. I do have a 6.1 system now. Sony speakers and two Sony 8" powered subwoofers. Does that make it a 6.2 system?? The Axioms are a definite upgrade.

So, now what do you think I should get next? Still a subwoofer? Maybe not now that you know about the two I have, since yes, I have heard the M22s can be bright.

I was going to get a center, but the suggestion for the rears makes sense too. I'm still open to suggestions since I plan on about one purchase per month.

Thanks for joining in!

Walt

I'd build in this order...

1) M22's
2) Hsu subwoofer
3) QS8 surrounds
4) VP150 center
5) M2i rears (if at all - the QS8's are SO good at what they do, you may very well be happy with 5.1)

Walt, yes, I would still get the Hsu sub next. You will be amazed...

Or an SVS...

But with the STF series on its way (or is it here already?), Hsu may be the better way to go since they have more below $600 options to meet your needs.

A friend of mine is upgrading his VTF-2 and wants to sell it for $350, so this is pretty good timing - I'll check that out!

I'm surprized not many from Hawaii given the free shipping deal. I'll let you know how they work out when I get them on Thursday.

I think its just the lack of audiophiles here. maybe im wrong! I dont think there are alot of people in the same other states either, just a population thing also im sure. I know for me, i knew i wanted the speakers and with my bidget of 1000 bucks it was either get the other speaker i was considering ( PSB 6T ) for cheaper, but have to pay shipping, which equaled the 1k or get the ones i really want and pay all of it for the speaker and none for shipping.

The choice was obvios!

A VTF-2 for $350 is a great deal. Perhaps he'll let you borrow it for a week first, so you can demo it before laying down the cash? (Though I sure you'll love it!)

Woo hoo! The M22's came in today, right on time! Sound is much much improved from what I used to have. Listened to Joni Mitchell DVD, "Shadows and Light", (in stereo). Wow. Now I can hear her guitar! Listened to the seismic charges scene in Star Wars Ep2. Of course I listened to the lobby scene in the Matrix. Going home now to watch the opening battle scene in Gladiator.

I'm very happy. Thanks for all your help and input. Next paycheck, (hopefully), I'll pick up the VTF-2 and get rid of my boomy subwoofers.

with all the acronyms flying around, I can't keep up.
SVS, STF, HSU....what manufacture?

Is the axiom sub's not up to par with some of the above?

Just curious, may influance a decision in the near future!

Well, the Hsu VTF-2 comes highly recommended at least by this forum, and they haven't led me wrong on the M22's. I have also heard a VTF-2 and its very nice. It just so happens that this is the one that the same guy is going to sell me for $350. For me it was a no brainer. Good luck though, I know there are so many choices.

Here's a rare SVS vs Hsu side-by-side comparison.

Go Hsu!
