Max - I have all my speakers set to large on the B&K. It sounds much better that way to me. I have an older B&K AVR307 with smaller Paradigm speakers (Ref 40s) in my living room and I have that set to large also. The "small" setting seems too ear piercing to me. Whatever sounds best to you is how you should set it.
