I have secretly replaced my Axiom Mix with a booby-trapped, overly compressed Best of Yanni: His Teenage Years CD. It will glue itself to your CD player's spindle.
You've been forewarned.

As William Shatner would say:

So, I know that I can put whatever I want on my mix CD, but I'm curious as to others' criteria for song selection. How much did you weigh these factors:
1. Sounds great over the Axioms, e.g. sound quality 2. "I bet he's never heard this before!", e.g. variety 3. (insert criterion here)
Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.

1. A little, but not really a factor. 2. I tried to pick lesser known bands, for the most part. At least I hope they are new for the CD recipients.
Are you putting together a CD, JP?

I tried to balance it between songs that I really like and that hopefully people haven't heard before. Sound quality wasn't a major concern since most of the stuff I listen to isn't really demo-worthy, though I hope I avoided any real suckiness. I did weigh in the popularity of the artists a little bit, but not a lot as even big names are going to be new to a lot of people. I know in my case I have zero exposure to most famous bands.
I look forward to your CD.

I really like every song on my mix. Some will sound better than others on the Axioms, so I recommend falling in love with it in your car so you can then forgive your Axioms for revealing the poor recording quality of some tracks -- I'm thinking of the Tom Petty track in particular. Somehow, the car is the place I can really fall in love with a disc. And my car has a Bose system. Go figure. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I used to drive to a store and buy a physical CD and then listen to it on the way home in my car. Sentiment is powerful. I'm so old...

Yeah, mine sounded good in my car, too! A Bose system, as well.
