Didn't go to see anyone last night, but I'm quite excited about going to see Dave Brubeck in Chicago at Ravinia on the 21st.

Possibly not many other Brubeck fans around here, but he's one of my favorite artists. Haven't ever seen him live before.

There's a handful of Brubeck fans here. I last saw him about 4 years ago in San Francisco and it was a fantastic show.

Saw The Cure last night here in Austin. Sure brought back some memories for both my wife and me. The show was even better than I would have thought. And they actually played for 3 full hours, which surprised me most of all. You don't see too many acts that will put on that kind of show these days.

I am kicking myself for not going to see The Cure when they were in Vancouver recently. There are too many acts coming through town and not enough entertainment dollars \:\(
Rush is the only other band I can think of that does a three hour concert. By the end of the show everyone is exhausted

A friend at work who used to work security for different events said that when Smashing Pumpkins played once they came out for four encores. If I was in the audience, I probably would have left after the second one. I just don't think I could stay excited after two encores. Ha ha.

I saw Jake Shimabukuro live about a month ago. I would like to thank the members of this forum for opening my eyes to his music.

OK This wasn't last night but if you are interested in vacationing on the beaches this summer and going three nights of a really great concert lineup....

Check out this link, Festival of Lights for a full list of Festival Activities leading up to the Canada Day Fireworks but I'll tap out the concert lineup below since that is what were talking about here.

Saturday, June 28th
...State of Shock
...The Trews
...Billy Talent

Sunday
...Hinder
...Our Lady Peace
with an opening performance by our own, Matt Mays and El Torpedo

Monday
...Collective Soul
...The Tragically Hip

they are not SUPERHUGE bands like U2 or the Stones but you have to consider that my little Island of a province tops out at just under 140,000 residents so this is a pretty big deal to us. Of course it attracts people from all over but still a big event to have these guys here.

I should also mention that the Eagles will be just across the water in New Brunswick on August 2nd. I love their music but I'm not all that exited about seeing them live so still undecided.

With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

So I'm at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco this week. Tonight was the huge party where they have plenty of great food (rolled-to-order sushi, dim sum, pizza, pasta, burgers, hot dogs) and decent beer. They also had a band which they didn't announce until they were about to take the stage.

It was the Barenaked Ladies. I'm familiar with their music but I wouldn't call myself more than a casual fan. They're a bunch of nerds so they connected well with the crowd, and they put on a good show.
