My brother in law just saw an add for a Denon 5802. The guy says never been used, bought in the US, but must due to lost of job and money factor, asking price is 400$ can.
Would you guys go for it and what do you watch for in cases like this ? Does Denon cover the waranty if he has the original receipt ?

When a deal sounds too good to be true..........
I would be very skeptical of this. $400 Canadian? Wow. I would have to test it before buying it.

You mean the 5803 right? To my knowledge the reciever that replaced my Denon (the 5800) was the 5803 (which only added an upgrade I/O panel making it THX Ultra 2 complient rather than THX Ultra). Definately look inside throught the vents to make sure it looks real (ask for a manual, reciept, and registration information such as a serial number)... Also try it out carefully (listen to music fairly loudly and try out all 7 channels and make sure the delicate remote is OK).
Sounds very sketchy...
Good luck.

I would never pay for this but with a credit card, just to protect myself.
