Which one would you prefer? I can buy the 4306 for a price that is 15% less than the 3808. I only intend to use 3 hdmi inputs even though the 3808 has 4. Are there any other differences that should form my decision. I will be using them to power my M80's, V150 and QS8's.

How many receivers are you going to get? The 3808 has audyssy, which I don't know that the 4306 has. Many people swear by that for calibration and equalization (while others dislike the equalization feature). The 3808 also supports network firmware updates and internet radio, which you might find appealing.

I'm pretty sure the 4306 has Audyssey as well as Internet radio, I believe it just won't decode the new HD sound formats. If you can get it cheaper and don't need some of the newer options of the 3808 like the fancy GUI and decoding, I would go for it.

Shows what I know. Guess I should actually read all those 3808 threads...

Or better yet get one From a quick look, the 3808 appears to be the 4306, same output, and features, only the 4306 lacks the new audio format conversion.

I could be wrong - it happened once before in 1986 - but I think the 4000 series uses the Audyssey XT software, which allows for many more measurement points and thus (supposedly) better EQ treatment. Also, I think the 4000 series has stepped up amps. Not much more power but if I remember the reviews, they clip at a much higher power rating than the 3000s. It is a shame I am too lazy to check any of this...

I've get the 3808. Oh ya, I do have one. I'd still get it over the 4306.

I have always thought(read somewhere) the line up of amp and P/S parts started with the 38XX series and just more power was put into the higher end models, which is why the 38XX series is the best value. The 3808 uses Audyssey XT as well. Like I said the 3808 and the 4306 look to be identical except for the newer audio formats, trickle down effect at its finest .

Looks like you can't go wrong on this.
